Pythagorean theorem is A^2+B^2=C^2
In other words, measure two sides of a right triangle, multiply each length by itself, add the answers together, the square root of your answer is the length of the third side.

Remember that is is you are on perfectly level ground. If you are turning and also have a dip in a driveway or something the truck and trailer will tilt toward each other more and more as height increases. You could crunch a headache rack or back of your cab against the top of a tall load or a van or container. Best if you have a couple inches clearance in addition to what the math says.
