You can pre-pay the border fee online and print out a receipt to give customs. They will stamp it with the crossing date to use for reimbursement.

Right now, Love's is our primary choice, T/A-Petro is 2nd, Flying Peelot it 3rd. We can also buy a minimum amount of fuel anywhere that accepts Comdata if necessary (enough to get you to the next available franchise top 3 choices)

Last trip thru, the border agent mentioned an app that you can pay with as well, but no one behind the desk knew anything about it. About 1/3 of the time, the booth agent says "awww, forget about it this trip, have a good day"...so, I randomly get to save the company $13.50...

As for dealing with Quebec scales...I've been up and back so many times, the one by Levis is starting to recognize me I think...which is o.k., they warned me about an issue with my new trailer last time not having brake lights, but it's a random issue with my truck, not the trailer...when it's under 5° F, I start having issues. He let me figure out the issue, and repair them and gave me a fix it ticket, but then signed off on the repair and let me go...very polite and professional and spoke enough english to explain everything. Of course, the form was in French, so I had to get out my new universal translator app on my new tablet so my company shop could see where to sign it as well (they don't speak French either)...this time, he just waived me thru.

I think my truck is due to be pulled out from under me soon, so I didn't even ask for them to get me a transponder. I'll check that out, the border folks prefer you have everything paid in advance so it speeds up the line.

I do not have a transponder but do use the website. It makes it as easy coming back as going for the most part.

Coming back has always been the hardest part in my opinion.
