Whew. Long day finally over.
Started at 0230, drove for 2 hours to make my 0500 appointment at Syco in Des Plaines IL. Got the trailer in the door, unhooked, then parked and grabbed a nap for a couple hours. They called me at 0730 to grab the trailer, then I have to sit for another hour to grab the bills. But luckily my reload is close by, and I get to La Gro around 0930. My appointment isn't until 1300 but I'm hoping they'll get me in early. And my hope panned out, as they got me right in and loaded in just over an hour. Timed it just right too, as while I sat there at least a dozen truck pulled in. I get my bills, send my loaded message, and away I go. The only misstep was deciding to weight at the Pilot a couple miles from La Gro. I get there and there are trucks lined up around the block to fuel, and as I get in line to get in I notice that the scale is being servicedBut I can't get out, so I end up waiting an hour just to get through the dam line and get out. End up scaling at the TA up I90, then head up 90 a ways to the J to grab some fuel and call it a night.
Now the plan is too grab some food and a shower, then down a half bottle of NyQuil and sleep for a good 10 hours.sc00ter, mattbh23 and WesternPlains Thank this. -
We are allowed 400 pounds for the APU? I’d appreciate verification.
Place I was. No scale. So I estimated where tandems should go. Did good and legal. With full fuel tanks. Weighed steers 100 pounds over. No matter question above. Steers are below 12 now. -
WesternPlains and Xeres63 Thank this.

NC and FL don’t allow exemption but NC allows 38k on a tandem, FL allows 40k on a tandem. KY CA have no exemptions.

Been busy and just catching up on the thread. Great seeing Stone Dude and Western Plains posting! I've run some very decent miles since the 10th when we got out of orientation...when I deliver in Romeoville tomorrow, bout 7700 paid miles. Stone Dude, keep asking questions here! Part of the learning is what lanes are active. If you get stuck running in and out of Chicago for 3 or 4 days, let Joey know. Getting directly with the planners, especially when you are running low on hours, will help. Western, glad to see you're doing good! We used to have sliding 5th wheels and I was caught by surprise when I tried sliding mine on 1646! ND used to be sticklers for steer axle weight but not so much anymore. I think with our axles and tires, we can go almost 12,400 before we're too heavy. I've run several broker loads and only one was a problem...delivered to a construction job site on University of NC Charlotte on Monday and when I showed up late to shipper on other side of town, they were closed for the MLK holiday. Jenn came up with a Shelby to Detroit area...delivered that then Joey had me sit overnight at Perrysburg OH staging for a possible load rescue from a broke down lease operator that was in Indy. He called the next morning and had me hold cuz that truck was being given a test run but at noon he sent me down after the load and went back down to NC with it then picked this load for Romeoville from NC yard that someone preloaded at Kay (thank you!). Keep communicating with planners and they'll work with you on hours and such. Stone Dude, if you can't reach someone by phone, send an email. Alot of times, even if I do get with someone via phone I'll email anyway to keep a paper trail on it. I didn't get a plan for tomorrow but given the weather expected in Chicagoland tonight and tomorrow, any plan Joey had on anyone will be up in the air. I've never been with a company where drivers work with load planners...usually we can't contact them at all! Be careful from Fargo to Chicago this week...forecast lows in Chicago are for -20 and -25 Tues and Wed night. I'm at Bolingbrook truck stop and there's over a dozen trucks froze up and it was in the teens and sunny earlier today. Was going to reset at Petro in New Paris Oh but saw storm coming in tonight, got parked here and 2.5mi from Armada/Hub 1. Yes, I know to pack a lunch...that place is always a clusterf***. Ha, maybe another reason I didn't get a plan. Stay safe and stay warm!

I’m on Charlotte. Waiting to unload. Got a load from Winston Salem tomorrow to Romeoville. Deliver 6am Wed. ? Should I check in tomorrow before loading?
