Random LTL Rants (all are welcomed)

You might move up faster than you think. We have about 200 linehaul drivers at my barn and I've moved up pretty fast. I'm still a lot closer to the bottom of the list than the top, but it's enough to get me a decent bid.

Getting in on a new terminal would be cherry. I've heard rumors about a possible new one closer to home but in the opposite direction to where I work now. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat, especially since the rumored location is near my brother in law's XPO terminal. I'll get a kick out of hearing him moan about how I'm stealing all his freight.

 

AVO to HFD, hostle in the yard for a few hours and back. 246 miles round trip, but as the first run guy above me does a double turn every night I get first dibs on all additional vias and double turns, which hopefully are more plentiful as the weather gets warmer.

 

Toot that Dayton Freight horn all you want, driver.

 

I've heard that they were called "red racers" as well. AF had some pretty nice Volvo's and the FedEx trucks did look better in red.

 

Is that a dump truck laying on the side? I wonder who caused that accident.
