It always gets me when I get somewhere with the delivery at noon and they are all at lunch. No one can sign the #### bill, because they are on lunch.
Hearing the same question all day "what ya got?" when arriving at the receiver gets annoying as well.
Apparently someone tought it was "OK" to park their car in a dock door.
I don't know how you city drivers put up with some of the crap doing p&d. Do you bring a 6 pack to work everyday? I have very little patience with some of those clowns

I just tell people the list of fees when they're jerks.
Want to refuse delivery because it's 2:55 and you stop receiving 3:00? Okay, but Cooper chargers $75 redelivery fee.
Want inside delivery? Okay, I just have to make a phone call see what they say it's $125.
Don't wanna get your forklift? Bill says bring to dock I'll make a phone call - $75 lift gate fee.
That being said I'm not a jerk. If your forklift is honestly having issues or if your battery is dead I'll just drop it with my gate.misterG, Fuelinmyveins, road_runner and 2 others Thank this. -
Work cancelled for me just as I was getting in my truck to head in. This whole "calling off work due to flurries" stuff is irritating.

Aaaaand it's Super Special Happy Go Fun Time All Garbage Freight Week here at FXF PRS! (It's not just me--seems like every driver here has been taking it up the fart pipe as far as freight goes. Sometimes it's like that. *shrug*)
Stop 1: A 150# display for a general store that had no idea whether to accept it or not and the boss wouldn't answer the phone. Heaven forbid anyone has the authority to make a decision... Finally got it off.
Stop 2: A sauna-on-a-skid residential. Easier than I thought it was going to be--spun it into their driveway, did the 'barely-room ballet' on the liftgate and gently placed it right on their patio. They were so impressed they tipped me a sawbuck.
Stop 3: A valve for a wastewater plant. Great folks, but I had to manually drag the 300# skid to the tail.*
Stop 4: A transmission for a small auto shop. Also manually dragged to the tail.*
Stop 5: The reason why I had to drag stuff to the tail(*)...four electrical boxes. Eight foot tall, 2000#, won't fit side by side, insanely top-heavy, forget moving them with a jack. We called the contractor. They said they had a forklift.
Yeah, right.
"Well, this guy says he can pull them off with this Bobcat..."
(Explain difference between calculated risk and criminal negligence. VETO.)
"We got a loader...oh wait, someone switched out the loaders and these forks won't fit that....the forks for the backhoe aren't long enough...maybe we can get this thing from these guys..."
What a freaking clown show. Finally, we get a boom lift out there and wrestle the muthas down. An hour and a half for something that would have taken 20 minutes if anyone had had their poop in a group. In other circumstances, I'd have left, but these things were blocking off all the rest of the freight--if I didn't get them off, my day was over. I hate Mexican Standoffs like this.
Stop 6: Wally World, that I know closed 15 minutes ago. Try anyway. No dice.
Stop 7: Residential. 2pc/55#, but have to back up a twisty dirt road with dropoffs. Nice guy, though.
Stop 8: Sign company off Main Street. At this point, I'm backing in and blocking traffic, and they can just deal. 8x4' skid but only 190#. Waited 5 minutes for the guy, but he was also a pleasant individual even if one of his dogs did sniff me in a very personal spot.
Stop 9: Residential with a crated axle/differential. Actually left a LOA like he said, and I found I could back into his drive and drop it where he wanted it. Sweet.
Stop 10: 10 skids of wine bottles. Really. Called up and gave them the option of heading out there or saving it until after the predicted Snowpocalypse. After I assured them they wouldn't be charged, they figured they should wait.
All in all, I guess I did pretty good, but whenever I have to bring back freight, I feel like I've failed. And, as I mentioned at the beginning, this kind of thing has been hitting everyone at our yard this week. Oh, well--sometimes you're hot, sometimes you're not.misterG, Fuelinmyveins, road_runner and 2 others Thank this. -

It's dead this week for me. My route this week is probably compareable to a FedEx route >_>
Fuelinmyveins Thanks this. -
We were busy today, with cleanup from yesterday’s 200 or so returns from the snowstorm.
Fuelinmyveins Thanks this. -
Yesterday we were closed, because of the 4 inches of snow and freezing rain. Now we're slammed.
I did a NJ rail today. Had to wait at the gate in line for almost 2 hours, the line was mile long. Then the container that I picked up had some issues so I had to stop at their shop. Both safety latches on the back were missing.
NJ drivers are something else. Even truck drivers haul ### there lol -
I’m getting tired of the shortages every other day occurring for absolutely no other reason than dock worker stupidity.
There were 2 skids on the dock for a county jail, and I could’ve bet the idiot would forget to load one of them.misterG Thanks this.
