You are confusing on the job training with employee sponsored training contract. It is far from free if you get the details, usually upwards of $7000 if you don’t complete the required time on the job. This would include you not being hired by them after completion, being terminated for any reason, or you leaving.
I paid about $5500 for my CDL at Sage which included the road test fee. It was classroom, range, and drive time with a trainer. The only time more than one student was in the truck was at the range.
What you will get as most company training based on what I’ve heard is a whole lot of standing on the tarmac watching other people followed by very little one on one instruction.
Do yourself a favor if you want to drive and get your own loan for the training.
