As for people saying that lease purchase drivers are glorified company drivers you would in fact be wrong. the same legal rules apply as someone that buys their truck from a third party or bank or pays cash. And most seasoned drivers are not looking for sympathy In the fact of ELS since i just previously parted ways with them they're are in fact hidden and false truths. In their well benefited to them lease purchase plan they charge you 8% on maintenance. Between $400 to $450 a week if your a driver with any dignity. I ran 2800 a week plus stayed out four to five weeks got nothing but $200 checks after their payments and $325 a week medical insurance. Add child support and cost of living on the road to that you will not survive with this company. They have 2019 Internationals they are leasing with lane departure buzzers and co pilot that will apply the jakes and brakes at a extreme measure if someone cuts you off. I dont know about anyone else but pipe sliding towards the cab not my idea of safety because someone who never drove a truck says its a good safety measure. And ELS can comment on this all they like. They only have east coast freight. And as drivers we all love running the Smokies with a gutted 400hp motor now dont we. The true fact of the matter is driving for this company is a true mistake for a family man and cost me everything in six months that took me years to build because i had faith in a company that dont care about their drivers. They're just meat in a seat. If your a single guy with nothing and no kids or wife, you can make decent money here. If you're a family guy look somewhere else. Oh and the money you built up, ya well you aint gonna see it for 45 days because after they cost you everything theyre going to cost you some more. Anyone that would like to see actual paychecks and actual summary of what this company is and all about hit me up im def not shy. To be honest its pretty bad when the owner of the company has to sit dispatchers down and tell them if you cant read a map this job aint for you. And if you are interested in their heavy haul division please dont waste your time. those dispatchers are worse then the ones in west Memphis and accountants dont dare upset them they will not return your call after that. Bottom line, it might be a family owned company but they are only worried about their family. To be completely honest youre better off driving for TMC. And everyone that reads this can definitely make their own choices with this company. But since my check stubs are mine and my experience is my own story, ill show you my stubs and explain my story and you can decide for yourself. Or better yet just pop in on one of the 290 seated drivers they have on the east coast im sure they will all give you mixed reviews. But truth of the matter is if youre smart google a different company. Before it costs you like it cost me and you dont have to deal with the answer of "nothing i can do".

There are no good lease purchases. They are all bad. You are asking for trouble. STAY AWAY.
If you can't afford to buy a truck outright then stay a company driver.

I’d much rather be ‘beholden’ to a bank in regards to a financed purchase to eventually own my own truck one day, rather then be ‘beholden’ to a bank to continually rent, possibly forever, the bank’s property.
With all respects do anybody that defends a lease, buying is much better than renting.

How many wealthy landlords are there?
Now, how many wealthy tenants are there?

Im a newb and I know stacking the deck against me by adding another $70k a year liability is stupid.

Sorry new trucks belong in fleets to attract new drivers and O/O’s that can command $3-4 per mile.

I purchased a used $16k truck when I first started and just moved into a 2013 Cascadia as I took over payments from someone else.

I’m thinking about moving into a 99 rig after this to not have to worry about the DPF and Def ######## and even lowering my costs further.

    Rule of thumb.

If drivers exist on the road without payments they can work for cheaper rates than you if they need to.

If you can't buy or finance a truck/trailer on your own, what makes you think leasing is a good idea?
