CFI Driver's What's Your 20? (2017 edition)

The part will not be until tomorrow, and the shop is closed until Monday. They're getting it from International. 45 minutes away from home. You know what that means. Bringing the truck back Monday. Bobtailing anyways. Already dropped my empty trailer. I am going home. Already cleared it through Road Service. My boss already knows.

 

So, I am still at home turns out the "7 days home" after orientation is more like 10? They said that they give everyone 2 days of travel time (which they did not mention in orientation). Not complaining but I do need that money lol. Anyways, supposed to hear something on Monday, whether they are busing me to Joplin, or if I am getting picked up near Grove City, OH.

 

Hang in there man...you've jumped a lot of hurdles. Pretty soon, you will be upgraded, get your first load and say holy crap! I'm not ready to do this alone!

True that! I'm nervously optimistic that everything will go according to plan. During school I met a very nice lady that had been doing OTR 26 years and somehow got screwed out of her CDL when she got injured. She was a wealth of information and I enjoyed learning as much as I could from her. She stated that being an OTR driver isn't for everybody. She explained that its more a lifestyle than a job. Hopefully, given my current family situation OTR will work out for me, otherwise, I know CFI has local/regional/etc. which I may try to get into if there are any openings.

I do really look forward to the challenge though and again am very optimistic that all will work out!

 

Hm. I spoke to my recruiter and they just booked me back at the laquinta after my orientation while I waited for my finisher for like 4 days ‍♂️

Where the heck have you been? It's not the same here on CFI without seeing a post from you. Hope everything is OK with you. I enjoy reading your adventures so keep them coming.

 

Just very busy lately. Been on home time since last Monday. I go back out Monday morning

 

Yeah, they now offer the home time if you want it... so I took it because you don’t get to bank the 7 days... otherwise I would have went out from Taylor...

 

Did you end up parking at the new yard? If so, where is it?

 

I leave the trailer there then bobtail to my local church that let's me leave my truck on their property. It's over off of cosmonaut boulevard near the Florida mall
