    Skill sets and such......

Pulled into one of the yards of the previous place I was leased to. Noticed a fresh off the lot shiny truck and the driver was just sitting in the seat looking around at the dashboard and all around inside. I got the impression he was lost, something beyond trying to get familiar with a new to him truck. I was not feeling anti-social so walked over to chat with the new guy. He was so lost on the both the trip plan and business side of Lease operation that I wrapped the talk as fast as I could. I would not want to mentor the guy.

Went in a talked to the yard manager about all the regular stuff then asked about the new guy. Yard manager asked what I thought about him. Told him about my impression/concern. Manager filled me in on his background: He was always second seat on a dedicated team truck. His co-drivers always did everything including program the GPS. All he did was drive. We chatted back and forth a bit. Manager decided to call up to corporate and let them know our concerns. After chatting back and forth and corporate calling me they decided to not contract with him.

The driver seemed relieved when the manager let him know he didn't think it was going to work out.

Driver called the yard manager a few days later and thanked him. He was back at his old job as a second seat dedicated team guy.

How true it is with Western Express. Use their directions to go to the Dr. Pepper plant in NJ and you end up in a dead end park near an elementary school. Thankfully it was late at night with no traffic, so turning around was easy. Went and looked it up on google streets and realized some one approximated the directions. That was the last time I used their directions. Tried to inform management what the directions should have read. Bet they still havent modified it at all.

Interesting. I thought it was Co-Pilot that did the directions.

My favorite wrong direction is from LA to the Lost Hills Pilot. It has you drive by ithe Pilot by 12 miles then make a U-Turn and go back. Every new trainee says “why don’t they fix it!!” I always respond that it’s an IQ test. “I already told you the Company GPS lies, you think I’m joking??” That Pilot is a regular first fuel stop for us.

Currently eating dinner at Denny’s at the J in Oakland, Oregon.

Going to sleep a few hours and then roll out. Hoping the bad luck trainee is finally done and I can drop him at the yard and get home to my wife and son.

Hanging out behind the diner in Westley. Wondering if @otterinthewater knows of this hiding spot so he can stop by and give me a Jersey wave. I am doing an 8 sleeper split so may be out before he gets here.

Yeah... although I didn't see any pollen, I know my symptoms were due to pollen....
Now here in OK, my body hasn't detected much any pollen so far...:biggrin_25519:

Yes sir! I like that.... :yes2557: Even though the pollen is a KILLER for me... I rather deal with that than with the snow and freeze.... Besides, I like that days are getting longer.... :D

So... this past weekend went by in a blink of an eye....
Last Friday I was delivering a load here in OKC.... then, did my second delivery in TN and drop and hook under buckets of rain... then, went to KY and did another drop and hook at 2 am or so... then went back to TN and did another drop and hook, swept 2 trailers, and then went back to KY for a live load... which was supposed to be on Monday but they were very nice to fit me in at 3 pm or so on Sunday...
Left that shipper Sunday evening and came straight to my company in OKC for delivery this morning... which was supposed to be Tuesday...
My DSP was all confused... asked me what I was doing delivering here this morning... a load I was supposed to be picking up in KY this morning.... :biggrin_25523:
