Heres my two weeks notice...in two weeks you'll notice im not here..... hahaha.
Seriously...i felt like if i ever gave two weeks I'd be fired on the spot or just told to come in right away or mishandled..so if I've found another gig not that i have how would i nicely and properly turn in my truck and how would i explain that to a new employer; that i didnt give two weeks notice...honestly it not like they need it or they would give me two weeks notice if they decided they were getting rid of me.
    So.....share your stories too.

I didn't give Werner one first time I left them. 2nd time I'm not sure what happened. Like my dispatcher acted like I was fired but then terminal people was trying to get me to stay

Tell your future employer that you are still currently driving for X company and that you will have to do the proper procedure and make sure that your not held responsible for anything.

They will understand that, and it will also let them know that you need some time. And on the side, it might just let your future employer know that you are not just trying to abandon the truck and have some integrity to do the right thing.

... and you don't have an employment gap. :p

As for the old company. Try to end it without burning bridges. But they will understand and shouldn't really care about a notice, as long as you leave on terms that are acceptable for them.

Giving two weeks notice in trucking is like giving a wink before dropping the soap in a prison shower and then kicking it in the corner.

I left MS Carriers after Jerry Moyes and Swift bought us and started ruining everything. MS Carriers was a good outfit run by a good man by the name of Mike Starnes. He treated his drivers well and I would have given him a two week notice. But not Jerry Moyes. I cleaned out the truck when I got back to the terminal one day, tossed em' the keys and said Adios!! "But I got you dispatched on a load going to Kansas City", said my dispatcher. Not anymore, take this job and SHOVE IT !!

They probably jacked my DAC up back then...who cares? Been working local every since all they care about is your experience and a clean MVR.
