How can you tell if you have bad governor

He has to be talking about the air compressor governor, the engine is "governed" by the ECM. Been a long time since I messed with a mechanical engine but I don't remember speed governors being common, rev limiters yes but not governors. The must have existed because I remember JB Hunt being governed. What else on a truck uses a governor besides the air compressor?

How can you tell if you have bad governor

It doesn't allow you to drive speed limit and instead makes you a road hazard like a moving pothole people have to maneuver around all day.

I don't understand how anyone can even start up a truck that won't allow them to run speed limit. You are literally a road hazard, stop it!!

 

Why is my secondary air pressure building up before my primary air pressure??

 

Assuming you have ADIS that’s just the way it is. That’s the short answer. The longer answer has to do with delivery check valves and the pressure settings the mfg assigned to each of four pressure protection valves which supply the P and S tanks.

 

My truck is supposed to run at 65 but it goes 80 ahh don’t tell anyone!

There is a pressure release valve in the air dryer. You hear them release pressure when you reach max. Usually 120 pounds. They will go bad. You can hear that same release often times at lower pressure. Or just might not hold pressure. It’s not an expensive part. Easy to replace.

 

California gets a bad wrap but the weather and food are awesome.
