    Theres someone on YouTube who showed the loadboard over at Landstar, with rates, miles, and open deck trailers. I saw that some were less than 1,000 miles, but paying $7,000, and some were $14,000! I’d love to get a tri-axle lowboy and truck for that... but I don’t know if it’s worth $7k for one to one-and-a-half day’s work... due to whatever expenses may be necessary. I just don’t know enough about that side of the industry, but I think I would enjoy that a whole lot more than LTL

    Checkout Nick Mordaunt or Sergei Dratchev on YouTube. They both do heavy haul with Landstar, and Sergei recently went independent.

    Ive been thinking about getting out of the Van/Reefer LTL/FTL game also. Been doing some Roll Tite Flat deck, and my Dad used to run step deck.

    I’ve run into both channels today! Glad you mentioned them. And both have really nice trucks and trailers. I’ve got no flatbed experience though. I’ve been thinking about giving ATS a call and making the move. Get my experience with them since they’re paying company drivers up to $85k/year. They have a program in place to get you to heavy haul, but I read on the forum earlier that THAT just isn’t how easy it is over there. For me, I just need the flat/stepdeck/double deck/lowboy experience

    The problem with those are that you probably require escorts and permits which can run you a lot of money or there is a lot more than just driving I dont have to worry too much about permits because I have a blanket permit for Florida because pretty much all that I haul is agricultural equipment

    10/4. I’m still searching around. Ain’t heard too many bad words about Bruce Oakley. Thinking of buying truck and pulling hopper bottom for him. Seems like a good deal to me. I could be wrong. Like I said, I’m still researching

    Yeah, o/o requires too much of your time if you really want to make the big money. There are o/o’s who don’t care much about the money as long as they get to take one month off every couple months. I’m not one of them. I don’t mind working like a slave as long as I get to retire early.
