"Ooo I don't want to drive manual, I want to be steering wheel holder"
My advise? Grow a set and go drive real truck. Anyone can drive an auto.Opendeckin and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Sometimes it harder to drive an auto than to drive a manual , i dont know what to do half the time, do i just stare out this window and look at the road passing by?? I dont have any gears to shift??? Where did my arm rest go when i get up to highway speed and finally hit top gear?? Auto sucks i hate it

haven't you ever seen...CSI...?? which deals in forensics..??
well forensic physcology, they psycho-analyze the dead..... -
No kidding. I've driven a couple auto's when my assigned truck was in the shop and for the life of me I can't understand why a driver would prefer an auto? I just flat don't get it. Super singles, DEF, lane departure systems, driver facing camera's, AUTO's I mean hell the list goes on but everything that makes trucking fun is seemingly disappearing. I'll take an 18 speed or any MANUAL pre-emissions truck over a brand spanking new plastic auto. That's why I stick to running for small outfits, because unless you're paying 30 bucks an hour, I'm not driving an auto. Part of the excitement of driving for me IS running through gears. If I had to drive an auto regularly, I'd feel like I weren't driving at all. Just putting around in an oversized Kia Sorento. Oh well, to each his own I guess.

That's the way I feel too.
But...since they pay me over that ^^^ per hour I suck it up and tough it out.
If I ever go back to some otr after I leave the company job I won't have any of those modern marvels to close out a careerTug Toy and TheyCallMeDave Thank this. -
Bub, trust me, if the money was 30 or OVER an hour......gimme that auto. As they say, everyone has their price, and I'm not ashamed to admit, so do I. I don't have to like doing something, but if they pay is stellar then you'll bare it with a smile. However, if the pay is the same, I'm taking a manual all day over a auto and I don't blame you for pushing one around the block for that kind of $$$. More power to ya driver.

Have been in both manuals and autos.
No big deal. Most have a manual shift mode. Autos have an advantage in heavy traffic. You learn to drive a bit different with them. How the computer systems are programmed has a lot to do with how they run. -
If it was just the transmission I could deal but they put everything on these trucks that they can even if that technology hasn't had a worthy trial period to work out the kinks.
Nothing like a false collision hard brake application on icy conditions to pucker one's behind...lol
