Another 84 people will die in traffic accidents today. So human drivers are far from perfect. Self driving cars and truck probably will be lots more safe but not perfect. Still kinda hard to believe they can actually do self driving cars or trucks when we see how unreliable the current computers are

The Wright Brothers could never imagine a A380 airplane I bet.

I see a truck only lane with concrete barriers on either side with divorced exit ramps. Its going to happen and soon, Amazon will probably be paying for it.Truck drivers will be obsolete, some(like me), already are, lol.

There's only been 5 fatalities from driverless vehicles yes, but how many driverless vehicles are there compared to regular vehicles.

The fact that you even think infallible is possible is seriously disturbing.

Automated trucks may have issues but I can't see them doing any worse than the fool in the recent I 70 mountain wreck or, the crazy driver that came off the interstate full speed (in Columbus, OH) and ran over my aunts car killing her and injured my cousin.

Safety recalls will only be done IF the government forces them .. until then people just die or get injured .. don’t believe me look at the massive airbag recall. Even worse is when you go in for your recall and they say at the dealership there’s no recall on your vehicle. A year later you get another letter then they do the recall.. once driverless goes mainstream the crash rate will rise due to cutting costs on some part with unforeseen results imo

Its funny how there have been several mining accidents already that are autonomous. One was a wifi outage, one was blamed on wet roads. Its never the autonomous vehicle's fault though, LOL.

Yes but the accidents and deaths are minimal and nowhere near as frequent as the number of people killed every day on US roads and highways.

Once Artificial Intelligence comes into play, look for those numbers to drop even further for autonomous related accidents and deaths.

"Tesla Autopilot does not prevent all accidents—such a standard would be impossible—but it makes them much less likely to occur,” the company’s blog post continues. “It unequivocally makes the world safer for the vehicle occupants, pedestrians and cyclists.”

I copy paste this from that link on story correct me if I am mistaken maybe it was another manufacturer that made a different self-driving car but didn't this same company hit a person riding a bicycle claimed the car didn't see the person.

I have a question genuine say in future this becomes standard who would you sue the manufacturer or the person who own that car. or both? because way I see it its the company car made the system and its the owner fault that it crashes into me am I wrong to think this?
