Just curious if anyone failed mega at a mega carrier or any other school and just couldn't hack learning to drive a truck and had to go back to their old line of work?

back in my earlier years, i was at NAVL...(north american van lines), and the class was warned, that if you fell asleep during class, you got kicked out.

if you were late to class, you got kicked out

if you cheated on a test, you got kicked out

can't say i ever heard of anyone getting sent home that failed during class, but I HAVE HEARD of people getting sent home if they fail thier road test.

some companies (i had heard) recyle a student.......but that might have stopped some time ago.

I would like to know what exactly happened that I might be able to give a better assessment of your situation. Yes it doesn't happen quite often some on the person, the company's "teachers"( I know how to drive a truck) but can't teach. When I first started I went through 2 trainers same company left came back & the 3rd one knew how to teach I already had my cdl from going to school. It wasn't that good of a school. The key is you're learning something you don't know it takes patience on the student & the teacher to be patient with you. It doesn't work out that way more than you know. If you really want to learn to drive I wouldn't be discouraged get back in the saddle do we can say down the road Keep Trucking. All the best to you.

Plenty of people wont pass simply because they can't grasp backing, shifting and maneuvering. Students were dropping like flies at the mega I was at, because a lot of people enroll just thinking all they had to do was hold the steering wheel while driving in a straight line in a automatic truck.

I was very close to quitting when I went to a mega. It's intimidating hopping behind the wheel of a huge vehicle and getting your first crash course in shifting by putting your left blinker on while your on the side of the road and shift to get on a public road with cars quickly coming behind you and you are grinding the hell out of the gears just trying to up shift (never mind downshifting)

But I'm glad I didn't quit, because it's quite easy once you get the hang of it and it's as natural as breathing the more experience you get.

Guy I used to team with got his CDL through Schneider and one guy in his class was a taxi driver in NYC. During training, was passing people on the shoulder and once ran up on the sidewalk to get around someone lol. Sent him home the 3rd day after the sidewalk incident

Only seen one person get sent home. Two quit.
You can be your own worst enemy. A good school can teach ANYONE to pass the cal exam. Period. That is if they WANT to learn.

I struggled with backing, 6months in I still do but I manage. Went from being the worst at backing to one of the best. The teachers went from thinking I’d give up to wanting me to test out of my classmates.

One guy the last wasn’t bad he was just so nervous he failed the test twice but still passed.
One guy couldn’t stop slow rolling stop signs he passed after being corrected and changing his attitude.
Two guys couldn’t fluently speak English. They could hardly pronounce parts of the truck, but they passed the pre trip in clear English.

Two females gave up because the teacher wouldn’t hold their hands through the pre trip, using the excuse they weren’t mechanics so they couldn’t know.
Another female gave up because she didn’t pay attention to backing up. Instead of listening she let the words go through her ears.

One guy was kicked out for being discriminatory.
    Another for being openly racist.

Keep your religious and political opinions to yourself. Be an adult and take be willing to study. PAY ATTENTION

In my experience the vast majority of people make it through the CDL phase of the training. A rather larger percentage never make it through the carrier's training program to the end. Some people cannot adjust to the vehicle or the training. There are people who simply cannot meet the standards to pass the CDL test in a time frame that most others can. Some will be offered the choice to go and test out in a bobtail tractor for a class B and others cannot even do that. This is usually when people get angry at the schools for not being able to unscrew the top of their heads and poor the skillset into it. If you fail a course because you cannot do the work or meet the standard when 95% can.. its not the school's fault
