it makes sense for them to be there on North Ave in West Chicago for one simple reason: North Avenue is huge there, and there is plenty of room to stop trucks and inspect them without disrupting traffic.

I think that I will take IL-38 Roosevelt Rd instead.

Your putting a lot of thought into something so simple...

You can be stopped anywhere, anytime, for a roadside inspection...

    What's the big worry?

@JonJon78 , I am paranoid by nature and this generally served me well. I know that even though I pretripped the truck and checked all my papers (DL, medical, insurance, registration, safety), all mechanically the truck and trailer seems ok, all lights, tires etc, we did brakes, but if they want they will find something. I hate "authorities" and all sorts of unwanted, intrusive attention. I *think* that my truck will pass an inspection. I also do not know what I do not know. And I do not want to take chances.

Don't worry about them they just want to make sure that you are safe and you have the same risk every day so as long as you keep your normal maintenance up you will be fine

Why not take the truck tomorrow morning to a mechanic shop and pay them to due a thorough inspection on your truck... Tell them you want a very very thorough inspection... See what they find if anything and then you will have peace of mind....

Think about it for a second, thousands of trucks on the road. two dot officers per truck, inspections by the time they get the paper work done is close to an hour per truck, so say 8 trucks per shift, IF and heavy on that IF they do not take a break.
The chances of getting inspected is still pretty slim even during a blitz. it just sucks when you get all the luck. lol
