Tollbooth Crooks!

To play devils advocate, did you happen to go back and ask about the money? Also do you have the guys name or at least what toll lane number you were in? I don't mean to be negative but how do you prove to the authorities that you in fact did hand him extra money and he pocketed it. It is a classic case of "he said, she said" scenario. I wasn't there and only know what you posted by it seems hard as hell to prove from my perspective. But good luck anyway. It would not surprise me, those workers at most make $8.00 an hour.

 

Having been a victim of IL toll scams. I would lean toward this driver and what he says.

Calling in and reporting the offender, doesn't work. Stopping long enough to correct the "mistake" results in a fine for the driver.

 

Well although you may not get any satisfaction on this go around, you may have started a file on this fella. If enough complaints come in on this guy they may look at him a little harder. Possibly setting him up with "undercovers" going through his booth and doing the same as you, handing more money than is neccessary. That would be the way to see if this fella has an integrity problem. Good luck to you with this situation.

 

If they get enough complaints, they will likely do an investigation. I think you are doing the right thing by complaining.

Nothing wrong with a "boyscout attitude." Wish to God that more people had it.

 

he may not have realized either till u were gone, either way u should double check both the out goin, tell them how much u r givin them as u do it an double check the change.
I have to do the same at Tim Hortons here especially in the drive thru, just say hi, heres $4.00, get you change an recipt an double check your 25cents.....

That ones a cakewalk, compared to the I-90 /395/290 merge area in Massachusetts. Complete cluster %$## doesn't even begin to describe it during rush hour.

The idiot that designed that interchange, should be flogged while naked in public. Along with his wife and kids.
