Ted Nugent lives up there. Loves it.

I don’t know why I typed Pittsburg earlier. It was Philadelphia. That was tough. Everything tight. Docks so close. One inch between my doors and trailers next to me. And just plain contentious drivers.
Drove through downtown Chicago yesterday. Interesting and big. Took 45 minutes to go 15 miles. I’ll avoid it if I can in the future. Consignee great. Outta there on my appointment time.

I feel like you should be able to avoid Chicago (or even PA and the north east area if you wanted to) with a little work and mostly luck. I only found myself that way once in 7 months and in the Chicago area a few times. If you wanted to try and avoid that, any time you are on your way back inbound, call ahead and let them know your clock and when you'll be in. Then ask what is available and take anything in Ojen territory or down south. Usually you'll be shot down and back largely or just bounced around. Ojen has a huge area and once you're on his good side and he knows he can run you, he tends to do just that. He was my favorite dispatcher and I'd snag up just about anything that was in his area easily getting 3k a week or more.

Uncle Kracker lives in Hale and owns a bar there. He’s friends with Kid Rock and both of them would often be at his bar there. Was about 20 miles away from where I lived.

Feeling motivated today. Home time is approaching.

Public Service Announcement for the forum members who read but don't post:

    ### Bonus structure for context ###
    Years of Magnum service: 1-.46cpm, 2-.47, 3-.48, 4-.49, 5-.50cpm

    Mileage bonus: 9500+ .01cpm, 10500+ .02cpm, 11500+ .03cpm

Hazmat bonus: +.01 on all miles + .05 for hazmat loads

    Cruise bonus: 70% +.02cpm, 60% + .01cpm

    Idle bonus: Under 10% +.01cpm, Under 15% +.005cpm

If you complete monthly training videos: $50

    ### My bonus as calculated by my DM ###
    Miles11,619 Idle7.54% Cruise84.09% VideosYes Incidents0 CSA0 HOS0 CPM Bonus.075 Total Bonus$921.43

I was at .50 and then they gave everyone a .01 raise, so I'm now at .51 for my base pay.

That puts my gross pay at about $6,797.12 for May.

Combine this with being treated like an adult and driving equipment we can be proud of, if you're a lurker you can see why some of us love the koolaid here! Is some of the technology a little annoying? Absolutely! Does dispatch sometimes do things that tick me off? Once in a while, yes. But I do the same to them! Will Magnum post negative things on your record when you quit? Some have had that experience, but more recently it was reported that was not the case. Does doing all refrigerated loads all the time get old once in a while? Yeah sometimes.

We don't load or unload our trailers except for maybe 1 or 2 pallets per year on the rare load... Roll it to the back so they can take it off sort of deal.

Drivers going on home time are a priority. I've had to pass a load to a driver going in home time. Others have done the same for me.

We have load options. Call into outbound dispatch and they'll rattle off some options you have to choose from.

Extended breakdown? Happened to me before. They'll take care of you. Get you a temporary truck, find a way to get you to that truck, pay you fairly, get you a hotel room. It happens and Magnum won't leave you out to dry.

We also get $100 bonuses for staying out during major holidays.

Safety blitz? They ramp up the inspection bonus during safety blitz. This year they doubled it.

Oh yeah... Free single high deductible health insurance with HSA. No pay check deductions!

Anyway... Just some of the reasons I love my job here at Magnum LTD.

What about the new bonus, 1.5 or 1 cent more?

Stopped for fuel in Rapid City. The pilot at exit 55 and the flying J at exit 61.
The Flying J at exit 61 is 9 cents cheaper than the pilot. Why would any sane person fuel there? It seems like it’s always like that thou.

The flyingJ is franchised to MG Oil. Local oil company.
Shouldn’t matter to us on sign price.
