I guess ET made it home... I haven't seen much from him lately.

Dispatch got me a load out of Ogden right away....holy cow!!! Pick up in Green River, WY after 0001 Tuesday morning, deliver in Livingston, CA (the general area of Modesto) Thursday morning. Giving me a grand total of 2472 mi for this week.(That's 4 in a row near or above 2500) Plus I was the 1st truck scheduled in to deliver so at least I'd be higher up the list for freight. I managed, again, to miss the snow that rolled through eastern NV Tuesday afternoon/night. Rolled into Cali on Wednesday in time to find a parking spot at the Ripon-Loves. When did they put a T/A in Livingston?...I have such an old fuel book, it wasn't listed, otherwise I'da stopped there instead. It was only 1 exit from my delivery. Anyway, got to the receiver, got ready to unload and a couple more Cretens showed up. The first, was actually suppose to deliver the day before, but he had a 'B' service done in SLC. But after picking up his load in Green River, he had to go to Freightliner because he was shooting oil all over the place...After Freightliner found the problem, he was on his way...a day late. (Seems as though SLC forgot to drain the old oil out before they put 40 qts of new oil in....Whooops.) After getting empty and heading to the T/A and getting settled, figuring it'll be a little while for a load...the sun was up and there were probably many drivers ahead of me in this area. Beep.....Beep. A load, and a message from Cory-Bob(I call Bob Cory-Bob because he and Cory act so much alike...besides, he doesn't like it when I call him that...So I call him that anyway-just to be me:smt064) A load - Fresno that he says 'must be picked up by 1500 today(Thursday)' that delivers to Burlington, WI...2223 mi (with deadhead) by Monday before 1400 (This is me after reading the offer -->:biggrin_25521:) Oh great, now I have to do something I haven't done in a while...Use my brain, and figure out if I have the hours to do that...It's been so long since I've been pushed on my 70 I haven't used my brain that much. I worked it out, and went to get the load. It turns out, I didn't have to be there before 1500 to pickup, we had an appointment for 1530 to pickup, so I had to wait...Which changes things, now I won't be able to run as much once loaded. They have me going back down CA99 to CA58 to I-15 to I-70 to I-76 to I-80 instead of heading back across Donner. After looking at the map, it was closer, but that puts me through Vail and Ike...And it turns out there is another major snow storm rolling through. Figuring it's 6 one way, or 1/2 dozen the other, I follow their routing so I don't have to get the fuel routing changed. If it's going to snow in any part of the west, WY would get some, and 80 would be hit anyway. Snow is snow, and I haven't seen Vail and Ike for a while so...What the hey. Now it's Saturday, and 70 is closed between Vail and Golden because of 'Avalanche removal operations' and numerous wrecks, and most of the pass' have chain-ups in effect. So, I'm taking a pause in Green River, UT just planning my next move. (the road report said 80 was shut down yesterday between Cheyenne and the NE line, so I'd be sitting there too. I just watched a clip on my Yahoo homepage about the snow in WY....all I can say is, "where's the road?")

God I love winter :smt078Is it hurricane season yet?????

Without getting way off track of this thread...The roots of this recession can be traced back to the 2nd term of Clinton - with Greenspan's help. (It was done by the liberal rag - the New York Times...A usually Democrat biased news organization) The only thing King George did is to not change anything and let things spiral out of control. He tried in his 1st term, but at the time the Congress' Democrats said they would filibuster and stall any bills that tried, thus stalling the government... People remember Bush saying the economy was sound, but don't remember Obama just said the same thing last month. And Barny Frank also said, before the housing crash last year, that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were solid and were in good shape...so who's to blame -- all of them. And with the spending of the current administration, we will be worse off in 5-7 years...So once things start rolling a little, save-save-save. Because any gains will be short term. You can't spend your way out of a recession - ever. Carter tried it, and had double digit unemployment and run away inflation to show for it. It has never worked before anywhere in the world, and it won't work here now. Oh, and by the way, the promise of 'change' isn't happening. Osama...er excuse me Obama (the only difference between Obama and Osama is BS, and Osama doesn't use teleprompters)is adopting more and more of the financial policies of the previous administration.... except doubling the national debt within the 1st 90 days that is.... so all we'll have left is change(remember the original TARP plan?? now they say they want to change it back to the way it was originally). Are we enjoying that tax cut???? My $13/wk has helped me put a supersized happy meal in front of my family instead of a regular sized meal...OH, we're so blessed!!!! All Hail Obama...All Hail Obama...All Hail Obama.... (or should it be Heil Obama)

This is a twist a trucker that is Economist/Political Scientist and not a Lawyer!

Recessions are a natural part of the economic cycle. Just as natural as the earth heating and cooling. Bad policy can exacerbate the cycles (to the good or the bad) but not create or forestall the cycles. There are enough check's and balances (the market) to prevent even the most deranged from setting out to destroy the economy. If it looks too good to be true, it is - the housing market is glaring example. But greed often distorts judgement. The best and brightest were pricing 7-percent returns on real estate to INFINITY and getting buyers for derivitives based on that logic.

FWIW, I think a lot of this Obama/Osama stuff is just a manifestation of ignorance and bigotry.

Try a few other satellite stations beyong Patriot, and Fox.

Bush's main legislative "achievements" were during his first term. He was a lame duck throughout most of his second term - with the exception of the Bailouts last Fall. I hand it to Bush, it was a political magic to get the Democrats to support the bail-out plan while the Republicans railed against it. The Dems were a month and half away from taking control of the Presidency, Senate, and House and Bush got them to sell the bail-out. Genius isn't usually a word associated with Bush, but the bail-out was political genius. A dead Republican President using Fudgey Frank to sell his last boondoggle - unbeweevable!

Glad to hear things are picking up at Crete. Watch for ice on the bridges.

FWIW I think it all leads back to the point that Obama is a hardened socialist, if not an outright communist.

As far as conservative talk radio is concerned do you honestly believe that CNN or MSNBC is more objective? Anybody who once thought so changed their minds this past week when they watched that one CNN reporter at the Chicago tea party.

Last I checked Bin-Laden was neither a Socialist or a Communist. As for an economic system, I don't think he has really given it much thought.

That brings us back to ignorance and bigotry. To try and associate two people because their names rhyme, is playing to the worst and the dimmest. Using hate tactics did not help the Republicans, it made them look like fools - the crazy woman telling McCain that Obama was an Arab. It's was pathetically embarassing to the entire Country.

The likes of Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, and Wilkow are self promoters in the vein of Jerry Springer. With the big difference being Springer was purely entertainment. These clowns are promoted under the pretense that they are adding something valuable to the political/social/economic discourse. They aren't.

I supported and voted for Obama. I thought then, and still believe that he will tack to the center. Why wouldn't he, that is where the votes are. If not, I will vote against him in 2012.

CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC are far more objective than conservative talk radio. It's not even close. With respect to television news Fox slants to the right, the rest slant to the left. But conservative talk radio isn't in the same ballpark as television journalism.

I know you guys don't like the NY Times. But, they had a good article about the tea parties in today's paper.

It's OK to be the loyal opposition.

You've really drank the kool-aid, haven't you? I would be willing to debate you except for one of your more outrageous statements. You said
"CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC are far more objective than conservative talk radio. It's not even close."

We are so far apart in our beliefs we are not even on the same planet. Any further discussion would be a complete waste of time.
