Schneider, and the post I never thought I'd make

The Costco drivers run 500 round trip miles a day. My friends go to Austin, San Antonio, and/or Houston and then right back. They have day cabs for the DFW stores. It's guaranteed miles but save your excuses, they won't hear them. I personally am glad to see Schneider work so hard to secure a dedicated customer. It's one of the few good dedicated jobs, actually the only out of Dallas, I have ever seen.

Irocubabe, maybe he should find another job then tell them he would like to get on the Costco account, if not he has to leave. He has eight years or so OTR, I think I remember you saying somewhere. Too many drivers shrug their shoulders and don't do anything about their situation. If he really is #2 on that list then he should be getting called pretty quick.

 

Are you and your hubby planning on teaming again. Or is he going to stick it out with Sni a little longer.

i went to work in the orange lane once. I was there a year and a half. Unfortantely the longest i have stayed with any company. I went there as a experinced driver 7yrs at the time. i was there 06-07. they are very miltary like which actually worked for me. lol I didnt have any issue with alot of there rules. I Got my one year jacket all the patches and a gold star to boot. I refuse to leave my own country and goto nyc. these are personal choices that cost me my job. They were going to send me to canada i said no. but i did pu the ld in al did all the ppr wrk for the next driver. They terminated my employment at the indy oc. I look back at that day as a dumb decsion. My dbl did ask me to reconsider my decsion. in some ways i wish i did. but i stand by my values. Im greatful they didnt mess with my dac report aka the black ball of the trucking industry. Scheider does have some strict rules on the other hand they have excellent benefits and the ocs are cleaner and offer the same services as the ts. I dont understand why they dont contract a local drey compnay to take the trls into nyc or have the canadian drivers take the canadian loads? This would be easier for all drivers. at the time of my dismissal i was a pay level 3-3 i would be toped out by now. i was at 40c per mile. better pay than most companies out there. there are good companies out there. i wish every new driver luck. i made alot of mistakes early in my career by jumping companies and that has hurt me in the long run. I know im a good safety minded and good driver. but convinceing companys that im a good hire is sometimes hard to do. Im having to sell myself as a good driver to companys because of it. As i have always heard and agree i made my bed now i half to sleep in it. All new drivers in the industry please dont make the same mistakes i did. think things through and work things to your advantage.

 

I agree with you 100%. I have a good safety history but I have done alot of job hopping also because I always thought I could do better and make more money somewhere else and carriers really frown upon it.

 

I've been around the industry my entire life...and Schneider is the best company that I have ever known.

Are they perfect....NO. But they are better than the rest.

If they still had their Specialized division, I'd still be driving for them.

 

Better than the rest; yet you leave them because they scrubbed their Specialized Division. While that particular division may have been "better than the rest", your decision not to drive in one of their other divisions leads one to think they may in fact NOT BE.

I didn't leave them...I had to go to Maverick or find another job, that was the deal Maverick and Schneider made so Maverick wouldn't be shafted with 470 new trucks and no drivers. (FYI...Maverick bought Schneider Specialized)

Schneider gave me good miles, decent pay, decent hometime, treated me like I had a name (not a number), there was always somebody to answer the phone when I needed something (info, service, directions, etc.)

I didn't want to be in their other divisions...I'm a flatbed driver through and through, I like to work a little.

And it turned out OK...Maverick wasn't a bad place to work either...but when they switched the dispatchers around I got the short end of the stick. I went from the very best dispatcher they had to the very worst one they had. And we all know how it is when you're not on the dispatchers "A" list.
