This Lawyer is a real piece of work .... "It was the fault of the truck on the shoulder".

How do people like that sleep at night?

That tells me nothing. Considering the lack of professionals, lack of training, lack of respect for the hill lack of etc etc etc. You don't run pickup trucks off that hill on the interstate. You don't ignore 4 miles worth of escape ramp.

IF he did run the route before then double the death penalty and double the life sentences penalty. He should have known better.

The presence of a serta mattress loaded trailer trailer on the shoulder parked means nothing.

Then what do I think is very important?

HE. Did. NOT. Stop. He had about 12 miles worth to think about stopping that big scary truck.

I ran into a particular Lawyer one time over dinner. A scumbag if you asked me. He tried to make the excuse or case that since America was bent on creating criminals of all Citizens with sufficient laws that will make the entire Population of the USA a Felon in anything under the sun.

I got up and walked when he got into the Founding. Which he argued itself was a act of commission of a crime or felony against the lawful Crown that was in place that year and long before it.

I like quiet dinners. There is no crime in it.

People like that shock me. I don’t know how the heck that lawyer sleeps at night.
What if that truck parked on the shoulder had a break down? That would justify it being there and it’s also irrelevant. My biggest issue is that he ignored escape ramps with signs and flashing lights.
Any of us drivers, especially those of us who haven’t driven that route would have geared down and used the jakes. IF I ever have a situation like that where I can’t stop, I’m taking an escape ramp or if necessary I’ll take a ditch. No way am I using other cars to stop me. There could be children in there. I decided when I first started driving that if I have to take a ditch or god forbid my own life to prevent a catastrophe or loss of someone else’s life, then I guess that’s what I’ll do because I couldn’t live knowing I killed someone and could have done something to prevent it.

EDIT: this joke of a lawyer has had his own legal issues. Kind of ironic

The article says he picked up this load in Saratoga, Wyoming. Google shows a lumber place there.

I can't figure out why he didn't go north on WY-130 to I-80, then head east to I-25. Heck, he could have taken US 287 at Laramie and cut the corner to Fort Collins. That's how I would have gone, even though I love an excuse to drive through the mountains when the weather's nice.

But to get from there to where the wreck happened, the guy might have driven south out of Saratoga, down through Rand to Granby and gotten on US 40 there, and then on down to I-70. I don't know how many of you have driven that stretch of US 40, but it's a very beautiful and dangerous road, though not as bad in the warm months. Lots of switchbacks coming over Berthoud Pass at 11,300 feet between Winter Park and Berthoud Falls in particular, and a pretty good grade coming down the hill all the way to Empire. It's a tourist route, mostly. I've never driven it in a big truck. I've had loads to Vernal, Utah, from Denver, but the better route is to go to Silverthorne on I-70, take CO-9 north to Kremmling, then take US 40 to Vernal.

Now that I think about it, he could have gotten on CO-14 at Walden and taken that down to US 40 and then to CO-9. That would be a much better route. I still don't know why he would have gone south out of Saratoga, though.

If you're having trouble with your brakes, why would you go either of those ways? Could the brake trouble have come on suddenly? I don't see how that's possible, but I don't know everything. I'm assuming the brake trouble was that they were out of adjustment. Is there another explanation?

Also, that lawyer is a clown. I'm mad at the driver for killing people, but even killers deserve better representation than this lawyer is going to give him. If he sticks with this lawyer and it goes to trial, I predict a long sentence.
