The only thing I do not like is the wasted meat that could feed families. Seems not many predators around to eat the carcass on roads except for crows. I do wish I had a moose gaurd.

It does not go to waste here, You can not take it, but you call in and the state has a waiting list of folks that come and get it.
Even when the train hits one, they hook on to it and drag it to the closest crossing, so that someone can get to it.

Funny thing about moose is they absorb light (from headlights) as opposed to deer , which reflect light. You can't see them until you are right on top of them, at night. A few years back there was a moose up on the interstate. So was I.

    About 1:am.

He was half on the dotted line, half in the granny lane. So was I.

Quite a jolt mister man, let me tell you.

    I killed him instantly.

He totaled all three cars behind me.
Expensive night for the insurance companies.

A year or so prior to that in a 40mph zone I had a deer come up out of the woods on the Ditch side and just before I hit him with the front bumper he turned away. I thought " smart deer".

An instant later I heard a ####ava calamity in back of my sleeper. I glanced in my left mirror and This deer comes shootin' out between my truck and trailer and deposits himself and my air hoses in the other lane.

More recently, hit a wild turkey doing 60mph.
    He just totally evaporated.

    So did my grill. ($950)

Once I was following someone, at night, and this guy hits a big ### bird, I thought it was an eagle, but I think it was an owl. Wasted the right mirror.

It’s amazing anybody drives without a dash cam! The crap we encounter when logging a few thousand miles a week is unfathomable to most. I’ve gotta whole bunch of random near miss clips.

    Lepton1 and Concorde Thank this.

Aint that the truth. My cousin and her husband hit one on their motorcycle last fall, or late summer. She broke both her wrists. He just cut his lip and couple bruises. He told me that he had to do things for her ,he never thought he would have to do.

    Wow.

    Just. Wow.

I guess we aren't supposed to look in the rear view mirrors anymore. What was that guy THINKING?

Had a bat catch on my mirror bracket once. Hung there awhile, (or stuck) then gonzo. Cane only remember 3 deer that i have hit. 2 different times on the Ohio pike. 1 was in a group on the real skinny road close to my home. Just left the house and they (4 or5) kept running down the road in front of me, i keep getting closer to the last one till i bumped him in the ###. Then he put the pedal to the metal.

There’s a Loves on the left. He saw it at the last minute and went for it. I’d have hit him had there been oncoming traffic. That’s a busy road but being July 4th (last year) traffic was light.
