This is true.
This is also true, but I don't even like the dead ones. I prefer to just not see them, alive or dead.Lonesome and iraqralph43 Thank this. -
The house I am living in was a bank repo. When I first moved in, an older gentleman stopped by and introduced himself. He was the previous owners father, and the pastor of one of the local churches...which happen to be one of those rattlesnake handler whacko churches. He said the one coral rock that was on the side of my driveway was one of his best harvest holes...he could always count on at least one a month...I got some outside cats and keep the grass cut short and we very rarely see snakes.

Even when you have a slow month ... I'm guessing it's better than ...Big G or Magnum...and maybe even Crete ?Lonesome Thanks this.

Better than Big G and Magnum, and most of my years at Crete. Even better than Poly. Including the 4 weeks of short term disability I got from my wrist time off (which the IRS considers taxable income) I am within $5000 of what I would have made in 12 months at Big G had I stayed.iraqralph43 Thanks this.

Get some steel chain link fencing. Lay it out across the lawn and let the grass grow up through it. Ground it and then attach a 220 volt line to it with an on and off switch on the porch. Every now and then yell fire in the hole and throw the switch. Crispy Critters.mushroom1464, 88 Alpha, TokyoJoe and 1 other person Thank this.

I got unloaded out of Maryland last week and the guy unloading the truck said that Combined Transport (I think) is no longer getting any loads out of Laurinburg. They we're doing all the dedicated weekly loads to this place.
Those must be going to either Wiley or Maverick.
I was almost believing that picture of Maverick selling glass division to Daaske but then remembered that I didn't get any messages about it and that picture and headline looks pretty similar to the one when Maverick sold their reefer division a couple months ago. They probably just cut and pasted the words.Bumper Thanks this. -
Our head honcho said that we got a bunch of System's freight out of Laurinburg. Not sure if they just got under bid or if they lost interest since they're a west coast carrier. Would be nice to start hauling to the NW out of NC.Bumper Thanks this.

This load to Miami didn't start on a very positive note. When I went to tie the main tarp down, I had to relace all the vertical laces. Which, without a ladder is no easy trick. On top of that, the belly tarps were just sorta drooping and when I went to tighten them up I discovered that one of the removable 1x8 padding supports was just hanging on by 1 of the 4 metal hooks and it was about to fall into the packs of glass. Then, whomever tarped this load didn't pull the tarp all the way back and the back flap was just sorta tucked under. When I did my initial check of the load, I could see glass without moving the tarp. Got all that straight, laced it up tight, plugged my pigtail in, hooked up my airlines and did my walkaround...and had to futz with the pins in the trailer plug to get my lights to work. Hit the air and....a friggin air leak. Had a hole rubbed in one of the brake chamber supply lines. Since we don't have people in the shop on the weekend, we have to call our breakdown and they call the mechanic who is on call. But, after all the b.s. with the tarps and the lights, I was pissed off, tired, sweaty grubby dirty, almost out of drive time and out of PC time, plus I didn't feel like sitting at the shop for who knows how long then running out of hours. So, I waited until morning and called in. I hope that all the bad juju is used up on this load and I have a peaceful rest of the trip to little Cuba.
tucker Thanks this. -
