Forgot to add I was also at my previous job for 17 years, I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

I have taken a year off a time or two, once actually was fishing a large part of it, commercial fishing. Lovedit too. lol
Back then there was no requirement for a company to check on your past employment.
Disclaimer I have never worked or even applied to a large trucking company. and so far have never filled out a resume or job application except for just a couple of times after I knew I had the job.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Our company asks for 5 years, but really only holds the last 3 years "against you". (I mean, they are your accidents, they aren't really doing anything you didn't do to yourself!). They ask for 5 years to see if there are patterns of aggressive driving or simple skills they can work with and fix.
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations*, employers are required to disclose all accidents during the previous 36 months, although they are welcome to list all of them in perpetuity if they want to. However, no company I know of really cares much about things over 5 years ago unless it was something major like Vehicular Homicide or DUI, etc...
*can't think of the exact sub-section off the top of my head, but pretty sure its in section 391.?? "Driver Qualifications"FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Also - if you are serious and want to get ahead of the game - get your last 5-10 years of transcripts/W2/1099 from the IRS. It's really easy and its free.
If you have this ready for your recruiter they will be able to fast track you. It just means after 3 attempts (3 days) they can use a secondary method to verify employment. This is great for when a company goes out of business or won't respond to employment verification attempts:
This is the email Jrod sends out to drivers when there is a company he can't get verified:

Ways to Get Transcripts
You may register to use Get Transcript Online to view, print, or download.
If you're unable to register you may order a Wage and Income Transcript by calling 844-545-5640 to make an appointment and where to send it, or you can make an appointment to stop by any IRS office in any major city in the country. We may also be able to fax or email it to you depending on certain factors.
(Jerrod Tip: In my experience, the website asks for A LOT of information that you might not know or have on you when your register - Most Times, calling the 844# is 10x faster. Don't call on Monday's, they are always super busy and you will be on hold for 30 min or more)
- What is my Wage and Income Transcript? Your Transcript shows data from information returns we receive such as Forms W-2, 1099, 1098 and Form 5498, IRA Contribution Information. Current tax year information may not be complete until July. This transcript is available for up to 10 prior years using Get Transcript Online or Form 4506-T.
Good Luck! I hope this helps you get your career started!FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
