I try to offer people solid advice.
My best advice is stop talking on a forum where anyone can see it, and it could come back to haunt you.
And talk to a lawyer...people who are broke can consult a free lawyer.

This is my exact message, copied and pasted.
I think it is good advice.

      Here are my suggestions.
Don't discuss this on any forum.
      Get a lawyer...its free.
If you want to be a truck driver for sure you will find a way to make it happen.
      Stop dating jerks.
The less you tell people the better off you'll be.
Charged means nothing at all...conviction in court is the only thing that would matter.
      Cheers Martin

state to state, sadly. In Nebraska, you can't have easy access to the keys. (Usually recommend locking them in the trunk if you're gonna sleep it off in a car)

At the end of the day, as much as you can't afford it, you gotta fight it. Intent still matters in a court of law, but you have to have a lawyer - free or not - to make that sort of case.

I hav ean idea, the whole deal is a sham.
Think about it, lives in a car for 7 months, and her X is still messing with her, possible, but why park where he can find you and start drinking, I mean your house is mobile.
Living in a car for several months, hmmm not one friend in the whole world.
Living in a car, yet must have had enough to bail out of jail, so now, where is she living till she goes to court, and has computer access.
Me thinks advice is not what she wants, and I have no clue if she actually got a dui, lives in a car, or ever had an X.

I'm beginning to agree and think it's time for the Mods to shut this thread down. Just want to say. In her 1st of 2 posts, she explained how she got into this situation. Her X took everything and she saved for a travel trailer that she was allowed to park someplace in Sacramento (that's where she said she was from). Turns out that trailer was stolen and was taken away. And as unlikely as that seems, that is a very common theft here in California. Everyone here gave her advice on how to get a new SS card, DL, etc and how to find housing even if temporary to get back on her feet. But as far as "living in a car" or being "homeless" here in California, we'll in SoCal, where most of the normal people jobs are, you're going to pay anywhere from $1,200 to $2,000/mo for rent on $15/hr (at most). Anything less is a #### hole that will get you bed bugs and probably fleas. And even if you can afford a place, and most require you to have an income 4X the monthly rent, they also want a 720 credit score to move in. That's not a joke. I found a place near where I live now and applied, even offered to pay the full 12 month lease up front. And I was denied because my credit score was only 680'ish. And I'm not being picky. The cost of commuting 2+ hours to work 8-10 hours, and then commute 2+ hours home, cost more than the $200-$400 I might save in rent living elsewhere. Another example is a guy that goes to my church. He works full time. Makes about $6K take home a month in construction. He's been living in his truck and truck camper for almost 2 years since his divorce. He couldn't rent an apartment when his X kicked him out because he didn't have a 3 year rental history to fall back on. He has a mortgage on the home his X and kids are living in and pays for all that and still has plenty left over for rent. But no... The rental people figure they can wait a week or two for the next better thing. And because of the market, they can. Fact is I'm trying to get out of California, problem is, because of the cost of living, it's actually hard to save to move.
