Nice light truck.
Mine is 450 HP with same trans and rears. I get 6.45 mpg without really trying.
I never needed more than the 450 hp and 10 speed with the 3.73. 65 is the speed with a few runs at 70. You won’t want to go much faster than that for very long though.
I’ve been in 45 states at legal weights all over the place with a flatbed. Never a problem with lack of power.
Maybe desire more power but never “needed”.Westbound23, tony97905, cke and 18 others Thank this. -

@Lysdexis
I’ll go out on a limb here. I believe you’re tipping your money down the drain changing your oil at ‘ intervals’.
I used FS2500 on the N-14 but am happier with Amsoil’s eaBP 120 on the Detroit. Spin on gallon filter - they recommend changing every 40k.
Adds a gallon capacity - 8-10% extra cooling and lube on most engines.
Sample every 8-10k, send to full service lab. I use Schaffer’s lab (oil too).
Why?
Well - for a start, why change oil if there ain’t a @&@& thing wrong with it. Hence the bypass filter - keep it cleaner.
More importantly - monitor for issues. Fuel dilution for example. How much damage through diluted oil from injector issues, through how many ‘10k oil changes’ before the injectors actually fail, and the problem is remedied?
Coolant leaks. Air leaks. High bearing metals. On and on. Simple and cheap.
It’s not about 100,000 miles on an oil change, it’s about engine health and preventative solutions.
I rarely run it out over 35,000 miles. Filter media doesn’t last that long anyhow. But just blindly dumping oil at 10k without a lab test, well, if you like throwing $$ away or it makes you feel better, then more power to you.
Plus - one oil change buys about 23 dozen beer.Last edited: Jul 30, 2019
