Well, Church Hill is up to their old tricks again. My load was suppose to be loaded by 3 am this morning. It's almost noon-30 and the empty trailer it is supposed to be loaded on is sitting across from where I am parked.
Update - just talked to one of our loaders. The loading cranes are down, they haven't loaded a stoce load all day. The only thing moving right now is rolling rack glass. He said they haven't given them any kind of timeframe for repairs, so I may end up sitting here all weekend anyway...I will stop now...if I posted anything else in the mood I am in, I would probably get fired if they ever read it.

Just found out that this crane issue wasn't a surprise. Moore was told in advance that these cranes were going down for refirbishing, and Moore knew they were running behind (like usual) but sent me in here anyway knowing #### well that my load would probably not be done. I am at an all time level of pissed off...they have catapulted above Big G as most screwed up and disfunctional company I have ever worked for. I wish Daseke would just can the whole office and let Wylie run the whole show...it can't be any worse run than this.

3/8" chains or 1/2" need to buy 8 sets, just getting into hauling steel I-Beam, loads will be legal 42k to 48K, what do you reccommend?

Some of our flatbed members might have the answer, I have only hauled glass on an open deck and that's done with straps

Luckily for me my church Hill load was loaded Friday morning and I picked it up yesterday. I planned on rolling out of there last night and doing most of the miles on Saturday so it counted for last week but there was a trailer tire sliced on the sidewall so I had to park and wait 3 hours for Maverick to get it replaced. I left this morning instead.
There was another Maverick driver waiting there all weekend because his trailer that was supposed to be ready Friday wasn't loaded for the same reason as yours.
At least you should get paid for waiting. Maverick doesn't like to get us detention pay at Church Hill for some odd reason. I had to raise hell about it to get anything after sitting there for 3 days waiting for them to unload a trailer that I could have just dropped in their lot. Except I was told to just wait instead of dropping it.Lonesome Thanks this. -
I get $150 for every 24 hours I sit, but that is $150 before taxes and insurance. I can work a local job and make that per day and not have to pay to live on the road.
The positive news is, it appears that the plant is either loading or preparing to load stoce glass again. My trailer was gone when I went to look for it at 5 pm. I still won't make it to Houston by my appointment time even if they drove it in and dropped it now. I have been up all day and I #### sure won't drive all night just to make up for others #### ups. Frankly my give a crap tanks are bone dry. One too many sub-1500 mile weeks during the supposed busy season...and if I see another b.s. '''rah rah" upbeat ''things are only gonna get better'' video from corporate any time soon I'm gonna hurl....

I finally got out of Church Hill. The load came out sometime Sunday night after I went to bed for the night. I got up and tied down my tarps on a real awkward load. It's a double drop, but one side is all cases that is as close to the edge of the trailer you can get and still strap it down and the other side is regular stoce glass. It is 43,500 lbs, it was suppose to be 48k+ lbs, but our Macks can't haul that much, only the few remaining Volvos we have can pull that much. I told my DM that there was no way I was gonna be on time and he should see if they could move the appointment to the next day. I could have made it by noon on Tue, but he moved it until Weds. I get to the Love's on I-45 by around noon. Three hours later, he calls asking how many hours I have left for the day, the CSR was asking if I could deliver then...If he would have called 2 or 3 hours earlier, I could have, but I was down under 3 on my 14 and to get to the customer, tear down the load, unload and get back to a parking spot would be nearly impossible, especially in this heat. So, he left it as it as a Wed morning del.

Saw on FB a Moore truck with an aluminum ingot on the deck

Yeah, some of us (other than me) pull some out of Baltimore. A friend I went thru orientation with has pulled several loads of them.Last edited: Aug 15, 2019
