Lol that's me too. Trying to get on I-4 at 79k with a 11hp truck while everyone is doing 100mph.

Lousy pic but if you ever want to appreciate anything you have to drive just look at this stable lol. We got Navistar international trucks from just after they retired the horses they used to pull the carts, Sterling day cabs which are kinds like a Ford focus with a fifth wheel, old Freightliner century, and a cascadia or two that I haven't driven but they probably aren't that bad. Can't let the old bad trucks get ya down, it's become a joke to me. The worse the truck the more humor I find in it because they still get the job done and 99.9% of people would have a ####ing fit if they had to drive them.

    My foreman drives a sterling.

It’s not that bad, it’s a tiny single axle dump truck so I take it all the time to get us food lol.

Worst truck I ever drove was a ford from the 70s. That thing was scary.

I admit I drive a nice truck (379 quad) but I’m ok driving a beater too. I’m more in it to work for a good company and good pay than the truck.

That's conjecture, no proof of that at all. Not calling anyone a liar but there are other factors involved.

As for the issue, it seems like others don't seem to get that sometimes you have to just drive what you get to make coin, many many times I drove a customer's truck that was so under powered that it could barely make it up an unloading ramp with a load.

One of these trucks - 1995 Ford with a Cummins was so bad that it could not be driven on anything but surface streets. Another 1989 pete with a cat was such a dog with a light load on it, it took me 45 seconds to get it up to 55 mph on a ramp that would decline - forget bridges, I would have to get going to 65 to make it over some freeway bridges in the area. That pete is plated for 125k and the company put 60k loads on it all the time - the normal driver would take only one load a day because of how slow it was.

im stuck driving the piece of junk again..... they needed the sleeper truck for a transport guy..... i have had to do two manual burns on it, it keeps coming up with "high soot" warning. sometimes the truck runs OK and sometimes its a total dog. the truck is a basket case but whatever. run it till it de-rates and then call him, your truck is broke get me something else. its not my problem. i tend to wind the thing up a little more when it's being a slouch

    High soot warning?

Hrm. Can you put the truck into a manual regen mode? Not sure if day cabs would have that option easily accessible for the driver.

I just realized that by manual burns you might mean regens. Not high rpm hill climbing.

yes manual burn meaning driver initiated regen. toggle switch has disabled, center position (automatic burn) and manual. push and hold switch to manual with truck in idle and truck requesting a regen and threatens to de-rate if you dont do it. well today was the 3rd time. i attempted a regen at a farm. the truck only regenerated for 5 minutes or so and went back to idle. i called my boss i dont see how that's doing anything effective. i told my boss to do as he pleases with the information just making sure he is aware there is a problem. boss said the truck is a piece of junk and its been to kenworth on 4 occasions for the same problems. this same truck spun a rod bearing not to long ago and had to have a reman engine installed. it only has 320K miles on it right now. im guessing drivers have to wind this thing out to get it to do any work, oh well i have to do the same thing. if its being a dog i will wind it up to 1,900 rpm not over-reving it but trying to keep the rpms up.

    #### i miss my T880. i cant wait to get it back but in the meantime i have to keep the wheels turning. my boss says he is short on trucks right now, and i have to believe that. i dont know what he is going to do if this stupid thing completely de-rates and has to be towed back...... regen systems arent exactly an easy in house fix at our own shop, if the problem is as bad as this thing is. my boss cant exactly go to ryder or penske and rent a day cab either.... we are on overweight permits.
