Got a relative getting his cdl wants to jump in the oil field . Do these jobs hire out of Arkansas or do you pretty much have to move to Texas. Any companies?

I would not recommend going out there with a fresh cdl. While he can probably get hired on those are some of the most dangerous roads in the us. It's not a good place for a new driver to start.
That being said. The wages are also not that great there. Rates are down on crude especially. When I left last month I was making 1200 to 1400 a week hauling oil. That was down from 2000 to 2500 on an average week when I first went down. You can do that otr and not beat yourself up on lease roads.rabbiporkchop, silinus vers and tompetty69 Thank this. -

Texas sucks and their drivers are insecure. Probably because snow confuses them or they get distracted by shiny objects.
If they can find a job in oil and gas I would say go for it. The forecasts are a steady $64 a barrel for the rest of the year and $65 for next year. It's not a bad industry and you get home more often than the standard one day home for every week outspeedyk, SavageMuffin and asphaltreptile311 Thank this. -
Go for it.

A 5/2 then 5/3 schedule is fairly common. That’s way better than what you get OTR.

Go haul a sandbox first and work your way into it , its going to be tough getting a Big Company to hire you fresh out of school , you might want to Call MBI up in Dickinson ND they used to train drivers.
A word to the wise do not accept any oilfield job that doesn't have housing.
