once a pound a time this was a very good company and i was so happy, i have never been so happy working with a trucking motor carrier, and for years Russell finley got his wish and talked johnny j. in to taking over the company and it all went to hell !! I thought the world of johnny and i have dreams of being part of a great company to work for,and I herd rumors and now I believe . I was shocked when i was fired and after I thought about it I could not find reasoning why,Russell is a evil man!!!!!!! it was fun as long as it lasted!!! P.S I am so ashamed of Johnny J. every one loved that man , it was a shock to all of the Drivers :(

At one time I almost signed on with Smith. I’m glad I didn’t.

There are more than twice as many Company drivers than there are ICs. Sounds like you just weren't successful and need someone to blame. And I've never ever heard of anyone having to pay back orientation fees. You are straight up making up stuff. We come here for truthful information about trucking companies and you are just spewing lies because your bitter. Your not helping new drivers make informative decisions that will impact their entire career. I worked for Transam for almost 3 years up until recently and i only left because i was offered a local job. I would not have left for any other OTR carrier because it is all the same out there.

Soooo.....what worked for you should work for everyone else? There is a LOT of negative on here about TransAm. Your story is definitely the minority. Why should we believe you, and not the OP?

FlaSwampRat and Vic Firth Thank this.

never said that. just that OP probably isn't being completely forthcoming judging by the little droppings of incorrect information he has in his story. not saying theyre perfect and it is 100% up to you who you work for, not trying to convince you otherwise. but i think one persons exaggerated story shouldn't go uncontested. besides, if he has a right to share his experience, why cant i?

TB John and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

I never said you couldn't share a story. But you said he is spewing lies. That he is straight making stuff up. Just because you had a different experience at TA doesn't mean that the OP is making up anything. And as I stated, there are more negative stories about TA than positive ones. Not everyone can be "spewing lies', or "straight making stuff up".

I will add that I was hired as a wrench at Trans Am but decided not to take the job because I wanted to go out driving again. I can say from the shop aspect it was probably the nicest shop I have ever been in with top of the line shop equipment...even a lift. Everyone there seemed super nice. I was impressed, it didn't come off as the #### hole everyone makes it out to be and there are a lot of people in that company with many years in so that tells you something too. If it was the worst place on Earth there wouldn't be a ton of guys with 15+ years in.

Sounds like a company cheerleader. Common for most of the big fleece purchase training companies.
