I was at a stop the other day with a Saia driver. They were at shift change so we had to wait 15 minutes. In that 15 minutes his dispatch called him twice. Then his wasn’t ready for another 10 minutes. He came to me and was like now I gotta call in and tell him. Listen to this. So he put his phone on speaker and the dispatcher stated cussing up a storm. It was embarrassing.
Guess that’s another reason I’m thankful for my dispatchers. We have an ‘I don’t wanna hear from you’ relationship lol. Meaning that just send pickups my way. I’ll do my thing. If there’s an issue then let’s talk. Usually the only time I hear from them is when they are asking me if I want a switch when I get back. But guess you have to trust your drivers to have that relationship work.Bob Dobalina, Gearjammin' Penguin, speedyk and 3 others Thank this. -
That happens everywhere tho. I've had those dispatchers at ups and according to everyone on here it's nothing but roses, rainbows, and unicorn farts there lol. Bad dispatchers are everywhere, it's the good ones that are a rarity.

Mine for the most part doesn’t bother me, thankfully.Cardfan89, road_runner and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

I interact with mine twice a day at most. Usually I call him to let him know I am getting held up in which he goes "screw them, just go to your next stop". Or he calls me to let me know someone is closing early and I need to head there first. I feel for all the guys getting micromanaged.
Cardfan89, MACK E-6, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this. -
Same here. Everyone seems to think FXF is the pinnacle of micromanagement, but apparently it could be a whole lot worse.jmz, road_runner and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

Y'all ever had your footsteps counted?
road_runner Thanks this. -
Does ups use pedometers or do they just have programs to figure out how many steps it *should* take you?FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Time studies. A dude rides with you and counts them. Then they average out sections and use that as the base for how much time they allow in a certain neighborhood, street, etc.Cardfan89 Thanks this.

Saia and XPO have it a bit worse than you IMHO. FedEx just has that 2 board system.
Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.
