We're in dust all the time, all of our trucks (Western Star's) have the dual air cleaners like the KW's and the Pete's. They get replaced at 200,000 miles. Most times they don't even look too bad. I can tell when mine are getting bad by the smoke when I mash the throttle.....

I’ve always done them once a year. Just did them last week. Always before winter, hoping for better mpgs.Really Just always in October, before the cold hits, so I never forget.

Also may add my truck has the air intake restriction guage. So if and when air filters get to dirty, you have a heads up.

    Congratulations on the glider!

I changed to Vortox 13” cans with Fleet Air Filters. Far more airflow. Barely see the air restriction guage move at 36-40 lbs of boost.

Reason I swapped cans was the 95 379 had Farr company cans, sealed filters, expensive to change. Low profile screens, thus less airflow.

    Found the Klotz on Amazon.

I clean them about twice a year, so every 30k or so. They’re always dirty in the soapy water bucket.

If you waiting until it starts smoking, you are waiting way too long to change them.

There is no one size fits all, it depends on where you are running the truck, but on my w9 I have never needed to change more than twice a year and I run some dusty conditions a lot on dirt roads. On highway once a year.
