Idle Regulations at USA?

used to be 25%, they have APU's and "ICON" idle systems

 

under 5% with apu and under 25% without an apu. its not really that hard to meet the goal either

 

STAY OUT OF THE DRIVERS LOUNGE!!! You'll get rurnt, you're from Ga. so I know you know what rurnt is, lol....

 

Don't listen to the terminal cowboys. You need to keep your idle time under 25%. It's not that hard. Your MPG should be easy to meet as well. Keep an eye on both cause... well, it's your job to

 

Yeah, it's not that hard ... if you never idle the truck and sweat your butt off! When I was with Swift I don't think mine was ever below 30% and that was with 2000 miles a week.

The company I'm with now (too bad they're going under) doesn't care about dci. Sorry but when I'm in that truck and it's 100 degrees out the ####### a/c is going to be on, and I think it's insane to expect anything different. I just know that lots of times when I was sitting there turning my engine off and on over and over again EVERYONE ELSE at the truck stop was sitting there with the engine running. (Plus your idle % goes way up if the idiot dispatchers keep you sitting for while.) Seriously WTF! I don't know about you but when I hit the truck stop I don't like hanging out with other smelly truckers and sniffing their butts.

well that is probably one of many reasons why your current employer is going out of business due to them not managing idle time.while i was with usa for a year and a half i never had problems with meeting their idle regulations or fuel economy goals.i slept quite comfortably at night.look at it from their perspective if you owned a small fleet of trucks yourself you would more than likely watch the same things that most companies watch as far as extra expenses ie:fuel consumption

 

i hate to say it but the idle laws are bull crap! if the law states you can not leave your child and or and animal in a parked vechical unattedend with out criminal charges being files with out the a/c on or seriouse injury or death will occur??????????so dos that make a truck driver non human??????????????? i guess it wont change untill a driver dos what hes told and dies from heat stroke when temps are over 100 degress,guess one should grab the owners and dm/fms and put them in the truck for hours with no air in 100 plus temps and see if the idle law holds up see if they follow the rules
