Oh yeah, Mom was first with the flyswatter, Dad only if we didn't straighten up immediately. Or if we were in church -- after one trip down the middle aisle with him pulling me and my brother along and getting a whooping outside the sanctuary, all he had to do was make a mean face and we quit fighting.
One day when I was about 6 or 7 Mom's swats were ineffective and I laughed. That was one of the worst mistakes I made as a child. Dad didn't tolerate his kids laughing at his wife.

Wow, I guess I had it easy in the back of Dad's 1971 Plymouth Fury station wagon. My sisters and I thanking dad for hitting a bumpy road and being weightless. To which us kids declared "Thankyou man" It was great fun back then. Even blew my mom's mind when I fixed the triangle front window vent on passengers side. The weatherstripping just needed to be reseated. Mom liked it as it took out the whistle the car used to make.
Seat belts for kids I can understand the need now. Its not like the life we had back in the 1970's -

Growing up my brothers and I were DETERMINED to find any seat belt we could find that worked! And this was years before seat belt laws became mandatory.
