Well open the hood driver. Thats part of your pre trip to check headlights make sure they are working. There is a connector on the back of the headlight housing . check to make sure it is plugged in. The issue u had with the air filter is not related to the headlight. They are 2 seperate issues. There is no need to unconnect the headlights to change the air filter so either your lights were already going out or u had wiring problems to begin with .

If wiring is connnected, grab the bulb housing turn it 1/4 counterclockwise and it should be able to come out , pull out light and look at it. If ur bulb on other side is working then take that bulb out put passanger side in on driver side and if it works over there then u can figure its a wiring problem

Then it's an easy fix that should have been fixed even before posting about it.
You do know how to open the hood, correct? Well, open the hood and see if the wire is plugged in. It's not rocket surgery.

I know everyone's picking on you here......

Its not a big deal- Check the connection to the bulb- Check any in line connections- You dont need any special tools-Just your eyes.

Mechanics will always side with one another-

Just like Divers do- No wait- That'll Never happen.

Well then ur wiring problems were already there . maybe ur truck just had a sense that it was being worked on so it decided to realese some gremlins. Every truck i drove always did that. Seemed problems would arise when going into the shop for something else. U need to chase down wiring to see whats going on or get a shop to do it
