Everything’s wore out, nothing left to damage, Lol. Surprised it lasted this long. 1.3 + mil. on OH. It’s getting all Detroit parts, pistons, sleeves, head, injectors, bull gear, reseal both front covers, radiator. With Labor, $16000 give or take. Only unknown is wether counterbores are needed. Then just about everything will be new.Already did compressor, waterpump, fuel pump, Only thing left is turbo, it’s at about 400k. Fan will be up soon, it’s at about 500 k, It never ends You May come out better now, with a new engine.Being able to run it longer after its paid for. Of course other things will need maintenance, you’ll figure it out by then. It’s always 1 step back, to go 2 steps forward it seems.

I priced them on parts. They were high compared to Stoops Lima. About $1400 more. The Mechanic was referred by a nieghbor, talked to him yesterday, $3500 flat rate on OH, $2000 on bull gear, and resealing both covers. He seems real good. Works by references only. 47 yrs old, seems like a straight shooter. Located right around the corner from WWW. I’ll let you know, how it turns out. I haven’t even ordered parts yet. 1000 miles from home, debating on pulling a load or not, don’t need to complicate things more. I’ll probably end up hauling a load home. Picking up parts on the way. PM Me when your ready, I’ll let you know how it all turned out, if you need the Mechanics info.

I wouldn't even attempt to make it work on 1.37 a mile. Not when with one phone call anyone with a license and good work history can have a job running linehaul at 70+ cpm and full benefits.

Even a paid off truck cost over 60 cpm to operate. I just can't fathom the thought process of buying a truck just to make less than an employee driver.

I’ve always heard of those high paying jobs, but never could seem to get one, let alone keep it. Buying a Truck turned the tables, allowing Me to be in Demand, and still make as much as those pie in the sky ( at least where I live) jobs.

Knowing what I know now, I would do what I’m doing now even if it was for minimum wage. Thankfully I make a little better than that.
Hopefully bob learns from this deal, then when he gets his feet back under him,he’ll take the training wheels off.

That's always been the plan. I might not go all the way to full authority, but I definitely intend to move to booking my own loads off a load board.

I even spoke to a Landstar rep the other day who explained the real reason they still have a requirement for hazmat certification. It's basically a tard-filter. Anyone who can't get a Hazmat endorsement, they don't want driving around with the company name on the side of the truck, so Landstar is back on the table for possible future employment.
