I’ve been living in my S-10 for almost a year (next month anniversary) by choice. I didn’t go through w the truck driving gig. My biggest hurdle w this lifestyle is the stigma, getting bothered by cops/security. The main thing I miss is my own bathroom. I might rent a home for the winter in the desert, still debating.

Depending on where you're going. You may seriously consider 14, The Antelope Valley Freeway. Take 58 out of Barstow. Take 14 south in Mojave. Many say no way. At least take 138 to 14. Nope... 138 is slow with stop signs. 58/14 is fast. Just keep going. I used to take this on a delivery to Van Nuys. I'd bounce outtta there so fast. It would make my bosses head spin. I could go from Barstow to Van Nuys. Deliver. Then back out to Baker before I ran out of time. Also did Kingman to Van Nuys, delivered, then back out to Barstow in one day.
Beware... 14 gets clogged up also. Avoid rush hour. Starts about 5am.
Everyone thinks they gotta take Cajon Pass for everything in LA. Then drive through all that mess. You don't have to.
And good luck with Jim Palmer. I came close to going to work for them. High on my consideration list.
With one company I did work for. Got a layover detention time in Montana for delivery. I took a fly fishing float trip down the Bitterroot. Oh how I suffered detention pay! hehe... Dispatch told me: "oh you poor soul".... Maybe I should have worked for Jim Palmer.Bigfish59 and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Getting within 50 miles of LA between 5A and 10P has a very high chance of ruining your day.x1Heavy, WesternPlains and dwells40 Thank this.

As it turned out , I ran into so much traffic leaving Las Vegas for LA that I decided burning my hours at 60mph tomorrow would be better. Stopped at whiskey Pete's in Primm. Left 2am for a 8 am appointment in LA, Indiana st exit off the 60. Made it there before 7am, was out before my appointment time.
Truckermania, FlaSwampRat, WesternPlains and 2 others Thank this. -
Very true. Fortunately once I unloaded I was going in the opposite direction of most traffic. Dropped the empty at a yard for brakes. Grabbed another empty and up to Redlands for a drop and hook. Headed out to Pacific, Wa. Had to wait 2 hours but got out.
Up the 15 to 138, couple of back roads to bypass Lancaster and Palmdale and the 14. Back on to the 138 to Gorman and down the mountain to wheeler ridge with 8 mins to spare on my clock.Truckermania, Farmerbob1 and Bluedew Thank this. -

Yes I am.
Nov 27th will be 1 year in the new 2019 Cascadia . Also 16 months after starting the training in Missoula.
I'll be trying to do a good solid update at that time, depending on where I am.Rugerfan and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
