I was unable to locate the site of the leak without starting to disassemble engine peripherals. If it had been something super easy, I would have tightened up a hose clamp or whatever.
Taking the plunge. My journey as an O/O.

Where was the dripping? Near where the transmission and engine connect?
-
The leak was in the coolant line running to the DEF tank to heat the DEF. Both of the lines had their nipples damaged at the end that connected above the top of the block.
I suspect that it was damaged during the rebuild.
It was, however, not a component that would normally be replaced during a rebuild.
I will still see if I can get Freightliner South Dallas to cover it. Wish me luck.Rideandrepair, Midwest Trucker, stuckinthemud and 2 others Thank this. -
That doesn’t sound super expensive even if they won’t.
-
The lines were about $170. The labor about $750.
Freightliner Dallas South is going to cover it though. They agreed that since they pressure tested the coolant system before they worked on the truck (looking for a coolant leak) and disassembled if, the chances of it having been put back together correctly and spontaneously failing with both nipples at the same time in 2 days is... more than a little bit low.Rideandrepair, Brandonpdx, loudtom and 3 others Thank this. -
Okay glad to hear they’re taking care of it. Little worse than I thought it would be.
Rideandrepair and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Bro, you're in a bad groove.
Merry ChristmasRideandrepair and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
They are paying me a $65 bonus to haul it a quarter mile to put fuel in it and mileage on top of that if it won't start and I need to haul it 26 miles to Petro Monee to be primed.Rideandrepair and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Update.
Two days driving with no coolant loss.
That is all.Opus, fordconvert, loudtom and 7 others Thank this. -
