When will management figure it out. Tell the truth about the job. Full disclosure. No lie to get you in. Then it's about power and control. Then they lie some more. Like I said in my other posts. Just hire CRIMINALS. They flood a cross our border every day.

They set the max speed to 57 mph, put in a driver-facing camera, have the truck shut off after 3 seconds of idling to save fuel then can't figure out why no one wants to drive for them. Must be a, "driver shortage".

The ads mention none of this. If you want to know more about a job posting you either have to call a recruiter who is paid on commission or worse apply. Then you find out that they're not even using their real name in the ad because they have such a horrible reputation in the industry. Appy to, "4th Day Trucking" and get a response from CR England. There's no way to screen or sort the ads either. Indeed will show you hundreds of ads if you search for. "CDL" in any major city. Now search for lift gate, slip seat or driver-facing camera - nothing!

    Here are a few tips:

    1) Don't apply with any company unless you have at least seen one of their trucks. If you've never heard of them they're probably just a front for a company you have heard of but would never work for.

    2) Be picky. They ask you plenty of questions about your driving history and expect you to be 100% truthful. You should do the same. I have a list of questions I ask any potential employer and if they can't answer or don't know I move on.

    3) Look for red flags. Do they send you to a clinic that can figure out how to do a drug screen in less than 10 minutes or do they send you to the large chain that forces you to wait for 2 hours or more after you check in? Is orientation a day or less or several days of unpaid time? Do they ask you to release your medical records to a sleep center halfway across the country? Walk out the minute things get weird.

Pretty vague. Can you enlighten us? I've had 4 trucking jobs in 30 years and only felt I've been "lied" to by one of them and it was not really a lie just a conflict of my job responsibilities.

The number rule in the industry is to trust nobody. Not even yourself. Not in a evil and mean spirited way. But you know they’re going to lie, either by omission, or just a small white lie or not having all of the details. You ever been driving down the road and questioned if you forgot a detail on a pretrip? You can keep going down the road and have it come back to bite you later.
So don’t trust nobody and double/triple check everything

I thanked you. I left without leaving a comment.
I came back to leave my comment, though.
Telling the truth is hard. There is no reward in doing it.
It ain't pretty either. Some people or organizations don't want to hear it.
They should never be rewarded for lying to you.
But they'll keep doing it. Over and over.
Just forget they exist. Eliminate them from your life.
    And warn others about them.

Well said driver. Employers should tell the truth. Drivers or future employees must also go look for the real situations and real rules at a company before working there. One very bad habit some drivers have is to do nothing to find out what they are getting into before hiring on to a company. If someone goes through life expecting the world to protect them while they don't worry what is about to happen to them, you get what you deserve. Your future is only important to you. The world is not a daycare center working 24/7 to protect you from any bad outcome. The world really doesn't care what happens to anyone, and it doesn't have time to spend protecting anyone. Protecting your future, your CDL, your finances, etc is your job. Read the fine print. Make decisions like the outcome is important. It is.

Is there a difference between telling truth and speaking truth?
