Paying off this truck September 8th. Just curious as to what others have experienced repair-wise beyond my current mileage. I’ve got maintenance reserves and will continue to add to them on a per mile basis. But I don’t care for surprises of this nature much and just therefore am sampling the experiences of others, be they OO or company drivers. Thanks as always!

    JoeyJunk Thanks this.

Mines a 16, 220994BC-B839-4D04-AD62-F11D93CB967A.jpeg Been down a ton of sand/dirt roads in fields, pulled heavy loads up to 117k gross.
Hadn’t started it since March, Turned key and it fired right up after checking oil and antifreeze.
Depends on how you service them, When it was parked it was ready to go. I change oil every 12k miles, though lately this one’s been a spare truck.

I have a 2021 just the regular maintenance intervals. I had a Def sensor act up(warranty covered). I haven't had any issues. Thank God. I just stay up on the maintenance schedule.

I’ve been faithful on the maintenance. Only pending issue is the camera system that disables the Active Braking and Cruise when it’s out. That’s on the schedule for August.

Soft ware updates are a must.....you will need 12 -16k for one box replacement and 5-7k for EGR cooler. Both above expenses can be cut in more than half if you can do a lot of this your self. And hoses for some reason...
keep a eye on your anti freeze. Seems like all unprevented maintenance includes antifeeze to one degree or another. I have a 2016. From 680k to 701k miles I couldnt stay out of the shop. Back up and running solid now.

I’ve got two years max and maybe another 200k miles to drive before I retire. So if I hit 500k it’ll be a shock as I plan on working a little less, perhaps 80k to 90k miles a year…maybe less.

My friend owns couple of 2019s. Bought at 400k miles. At 500k miles all sorts of DEF problems start showing up, at 600k one truck had front leaf spring cracked (none available in the USA right now), fuel pump and fuel lines needed to be replaced. Another one had clutch fail (dt12 transmission) almost $10k repair, then something else.
Basically it seems like after 500k miles they start needing lots of repairs

They do. Right as the warranty runs out the repairs come in

Woah, it really costs 5-7k for an egr cooler on a Detroit? Cummins isx15 is quite a bit cheaper than that iirc.

    77fib77 Thanks this.
