Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been on here, but, basically my title says it all.

I've been with U.S Xpress since August of 2014, and I'm curious of where I should go from here?

I'd like to find a good paying local job with good benefits where I can have a set couple days off a week. Something like crude haulers 4-2, 4-3. Or even weekends off, something like that.

Basically I want my life back, I realize alot of you guys have spent years OTR, but I'm going to be honest, truck stop food has not been good to me. I haven't weighed 300 pounds in years, and that's what I'm up to now from 236 at the beginning of last year. And it's not all truckings fault, but it hasn't helped much either. Basically I want a job where I can go to the gym after work, have some fun on the weekends, maybe even have a relationship.

I'm looking for in the Austin, TX area that way I can be close to my brother, and only a couple hours from home. (Junction, TX)

Thanks for reading if you've made it thid far lol. Any ideas?

Well - I'll always recommend LTL to ya if you want to be home more. Still lots of hours, but you'll see your bed at the house more often.

Congrts on 1 year - andn good luck.

Well I've only been home once this year for 5 days. Was out from Dec 27 to February 25, back out March 3rd and been out ever since. (By my own choice) but. Nothing to do in Junction and not much on women there soo

Eating at truck stops is expensive, why not buy a small frig, and micro, can eat much healthier this way and much cheaper

Yeah, frankly you cannot fully blame truck stop food. Are you snacking more to say stay awake? Are you drinking gallons of sodas? Are you ordering fired foods over baked or broiled? Truck stop food may not be the root cause of your weight gain. Do you take the time to walk a little bit on your 10 hr break?

What will be your excuse when you start driving locally and have regular lunch and coffee breaks?

As for a local gig, too many times it's been said seek out an LTL company, but I must warn you, many times they have end of the week cook outs, you just may put on more weight.

Well I just want to be able to go to the gym and lose it. I hate being big like this. And like I said it's not all truckings fault. I didn't help myself either. But I do usually eat at subway. And not the meatball marinara Either. Lol. But yea I drink lots of soda. And alot of times I'll only eat once a day.

But I have quit smoking since I started driving. (Vaping) So I might of slowed my death a little at least. But to answer your question I don't really do any walking much. Just the normal going into the store And what not.

But if I had a local job with a set schedule I could get a personal trainer hopefully.

It's a work in progress, my plan that is.

Good luck with the job search. You can drop that weight and get into shape with a little time and effort.

I did the fridge thing for a while but I was waisting more than I could use due to my truck not idling all the time thanks to U.S xpresses temp settings in the winter so my truck would cut off after I'd fall asleep then my power inverter would switch off and so there would go the food and what not. I was rocking a lil george foreman which would work my inverter overtime, it could barely pull if off because they only allow us to have 1500 watts.

Yehh I got faith. I could lose it if I went back to my old job due to the work. But I worked there a year and got messed out of 40 hours of paid back and 12 hours of paid sick time when I left after I told the guy in charge I was looking for a new job and he said he didn't blame me. But hey. Everything happens for a reason.

[IMG] Congrats on your one year ![IMG]

Check out Quality Carriers. They require only one year tractor trailer experience. Will train you on tanker and best of all, you'll be home. Each terminal is a franchise. Ask to get paid by percentage. The one in Chicago started off drivers at 26%. [IMG]
