I seen the employee email saying they would wind down to a Jan 30th, 2026 end. The USPS was given a 60 day notice. This is another example of the old man stepping away and the young man burning it down. Although this would be a trio of guilty idiots in my opinion.

All of the mail hauling contractors have been affected. From the net:
The U.S. Postal Service is transitioning to insource the transportation of mail and parcels, which means that many contracts with private trucking companies will be terminated by 2025. This shift is part of the USPS's "Delivering for America" plan aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs.

Petula Clark sang, "A sign of the times", 10 Roads took over our mail in central Co. couple years back, talk about a dinosaur. That miserable entity lost an astonishing $ NINE(9) BILLION( with a B) last year, and for what? They had an ad in our little paper FOR MONTHS, 1 turn to Denver( 3 hours) unload/reload,,$30/hr. with benes, new Mack with automatic, the job went unfilled.:dontknow:. 1st of all, the lackwit carriers they hire, can't put the mail in the right slot, for $30/hour with benes, and we just throw it away. The average American get 16 pieces of junk mail a week, or 41 pounds a year that we consume 100 million trees PER YEAR, to throw away. Hmm, what could the country do with $9 billion dollars?

I did the Denver to Salt Lake route with 10 Roads early 2024. Simple gig. Just run same route every night. It was fun. It was linehaul/switch trailer with SLC driver halfway (either in Wamsutter, WY or if weather was bad we'd switch trailers Fruita, CO)

My dad worked for 10 roads right before the end. He told me before he left that the company was doomed and were having cash flow issues and he would be suprised if they made it past 26 and this was 4 years ago.

As usual.he was right on the money.

So does this mean the post office is going to be hiring for a bunch of TTO positions?
