Hello all, I am looking for a 1973 Kenworth W900, to restore. My dad drove a truck for just about 50 years. 34 of these years were for JM Jones which was eventually bought by Supervalu. In 1973 he was issued a brand new Kenworth W900 day cab of which from day 1 he loved and proud to drive. Although he drove several trucks of the years, that truck was the one he always talked about. I believe that was the truck he received his first of many million mile safety awards. My dad past away Feb 9th of 2021 so I feel this would be a fine memorial to him. Ultimately, I would love to find his truck but I would not even now where to look or if even exists any longer. So a 73' vintage 900 will have to do. Since I don't have a great deal of resources i am guessing this would have to be something need a fair amount of work. I am not looking for a truck that belongs in a crusher. but something with decent bones, hopefully running and driving, but that would be taken case by case. If any one here knows who I could contact I would be forever greatful. Thank you

www.truckpaper.com is probably your best bet. Good luck and post pictures if you do this! Sorry for your loss.

Might be a bit difficult to find specifically a '73 in somewhat decent condition. From what I know of the W900A's there wasn't a whole lot of variation from the early 70s to 1981 or 1982 when they were replaced by the B cab models. It wouldn't be overly difficult to build a different year into 1973 specs.

Tip of the hat to the old man for his years of service. Brought us a lot of groceries, he did. As for the KWhopper, great idea, not sure what, if anything, you're going to do with it, but good luck. Older W900's are being snapped up because of the pre-emission rules, and because it was such a popular truck, they were run into the ground accordingly. Most, that can't pass an inspection any more, are being turned into water trucks, local lowboy haulers and other non-road duties. FB Marketplace, CL, but anything in a truck paper, has already been found and want a premium price. Farmers bought old road trucks too, so a farm auction notice would be a good place too. Also, daycabs are in short order to begin with, and you may have to find a sleeper rig and pull the sleeper. Good luck getting THAT from some old school trucker that couldn't replace it with anything today, and thanks for sharing your story with us.

Sure sorry to hear about your dad, my condolences.

Might be a little hard to find a 1973 W900A specifically, but they are many still out there. I know where a A model is from the 70’s that is all original day cab, at least he still had it about 2 months ago. Not sure what he would want for it since it had the original KT Cummins and it runs and drives....

Love those old KTA’S and 1693’s. First of the big power.
