I'm pretty new to this forum, I appreciate any advice in advance, I am a 20 year old man from California looking to get into trucking and don't know where to start. I need to get my class c license but after that don't know where to start. All I know is that I want to drive a truck from state to state.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

    Hurry and get the Class-C.
Most companies want at least 12 mos. experience with Class-C before they'll hire a new CDL-A school grad.

First get your Class-C, then look for CDL training.

Maybe you should get a couple years experience driving a car before you go to trucks.

Call Morning Star in Los Banos. They will train you, haul tomatoes for the season and it's free. You'll make good money and they give you lodging as well.

At 20, consider looking at other trades. There are many that will have; better pay, better work conditions, better life balance, better benefits, more respect, far less personal liability, less dangerous, etc. Electrical, plumbing, welding, robotics, etc. Good luck.
