So my Cascadia DD15 has been nothing short of a lemon. I've spent so much money in repairs and for whatever reason it just continues to have issues and bad luck. Anyhow, it has an issue where it randomly turns off loses power and turns back on while i'm driving, and gives a rollover alarm. It sometimes turns off for different codes every now and then I think it said switch dash. I think it has a short somewhere and it affects different parts of the truck. Anyone have an idea why this might be happening? I think my mechanic said he noticed several intermittent power issues when he hooked up the computer, but doesn't really know what it could be. My batteries are new and terminals are clean and tight.

Don't you just love all these safety features that can shut off your truck in the middle of traffic because you have a faulty sensor?

First thing I would do is ask for a print out of all your fault codes, then post it here.

Would you say that your mechanic is top shelf? Sounds like it may be time to shop around for a mechanic that can quickly resolve your issues. I have four different mechanics I rely on in my home town, each has a different strength.

Your problems could be associated with faulty sensors, which should all be replaced around now, based on the age of the truck. This is something you can do by yourself, if you are mechanically inclined (and I encourage you to become mechanically inclined if you aren't already).

Check your grounds. Check your wires. Replace all wires that show wear from rubbing against anything. Make sure all wires and hoses are properly zip tied so they aren't rubbing against anything.

Check your battery, starter and ground connections for any corroded, loose or chafed wiring.

how about your curse control and jakes? My 2012 is the same way made in Mexico, ya need a good shop that has a licensed DD15 program, and know how to use it, changing the clutch switch fixed about 3 different things, I have a an OTC heavy duty code reader hooked up all the time, clear codes on the fly, some will not clear till you stop and reset the ecm. the cheapest fix I know to save a tow duck tape for the over ride switch[IMG] dash2012.jpg

Grounds and corrosion. Cascadia's are bad behind the dash. Any problems with instrument cluster? That's where I found mine.

Let's be honest all the money you threw out the window could of hour an decent running old pre DEF truck. Or an old series 60 could have been put in your truck, or an old big cam could have been put in your truck. This avoiding the new truck nightmare issue over nothing usually. Just call me Mr obvious. Or hate me is fine as well.

My company finally ditched my ‘12 Cascadia. They’re replenshing the fleet with new Pete’s but they have that Bendix lane departure crap on them. I luckily snagged a pre def ‘10 Cascadia that was laying around. Been a great truck, problem free.

In ‘12 when Freightliner installed the DEF system, they found out to late that the old style pistons are incompatible with the DPF process. The motors won’t last more than 500k before they burn up. They rebuilt my ‘12 with a new style piston and then the head cracked. Put about another 100k on it after that and finally at 780k they yanked it out of service.

Those things won’t go more than 20k miles without throwing a code followed by a derate. It’s always an ‘effin sensor. I think the ‘13’s and up and ‘11’s and older are okay. Those ‘12’s though.......

Not many dpf, or Def, engines last more than 500k no matter who makes them. It's quit sad.

And yet I got 1.2M on an 09 Cummins ISX ... Oil sample, Oil sample, Oil sample, do regular maintenance - check and clean - on all sensors and don't idle. Idling builds up the soot and it the death of an emissions engine.

Want to know why emission engines fail ... walk around a truck stop and notice how many late model trucks are idling unnecessarily.
