aluminum trailers are bad about that when they’re about 5 years old.

Cracked frame is an OOS violation.
Normal no, but it happens a lot.

That's might be true, I checked other east trailers in our yard - and they all have the same issues :(

it’s not just east it’s aluminum that’s getting old and been under stress.

I would be surprised if they actually have the title to most of the equipment in the yard/
You can pick the best turd on the lot, spend a bunch more to have it fixed, then lose it when they file bankruptcy in november anyway-
    Or
You can cut your losses and move on: See if you got enough left in your account to make your own venture successful.

You are too close to see what’s happening: I can see the whole picture from here though.

I have a 2016 east step deck, just did Air bags and shocks on it yesterday and inspected for cracks. Frame is clean as can be, and I’ve loaded the heck out of this trailer. Carefully of course.

I looked at a Benson 524 2016. It had twenty cracks in the kingpin area. The main beam had one small one. The rest were crossmembers.Anyone
Does anyone have any idea what happened there? I have owned three aluminum trailers and never had any issues. I would not say its normal.

Watching a company driver whip u-turns with a loaded spread axle in the truckstop vs. an owner op swing wide and take his time is a simple observation I've made over time. I would assume 2 identical trailers pulled by 2 different drivers could have much different lifespans. Just an observation though...
