It would appear every state is different then. Illinois won't even let you transfer your license without retaking all the written and drive tests, let alone accept a certificate from an out of state school.

You are correct re: Illinois. IL sucks that way. Most every other state will accept a CDL transfer from another state.

Same BS in MA. You need to have your CDL for two years and driving a truck for the same amount of time. If not, you need to retest everything. Sucks for me right now and is putting me in a stall mode.

As of July 1st this has changed in Massachusetts. You can now go to school and test anywhere and Mass. will accept it. With the exception of Hazmat.

That's great news for Ma residents wanting to get a CDL out of state. I grew up in Ma..Cape Cod..48yrs. I was skeptical of what you posted so I had to look it up.

Morpheus is thinking of the Law in Ma in regards to transferring a CDL to Ma from another state. That law still stands...
"A copy of a driving record from a previous state of licensure, indicating that the customer
has the minimum requirement of two years of experience from the date of issuance of the CDL."

Also a record of anything north of a parking ticket on the record and it's retest time :)

I'm from IL took my cdl test in Richfield WI with Millis Transfer and all I had to do was go to DMV in IL and pick up my hard copy 3-4 days later. This was just last September when I did that.

I wouldn't even get out of bed for $3500/mth, that's pauper money.

@AnotherChapter - I did not want to let this thread get to much older, so here is a revive; I watched one of the Red Viking Trucker videos last night referring to "the Monday Morning dread" and it really hit home with me. I have those Monday morning dreads every single week, and I gotta say, they are getting old! I have had my CDL for 21 years, but I have not driven professionally for the last 16 years... I have been keeping my driving dream alive by pulling for my son and daughter's high school marching band (9-years now). With that part of my minimal driving career coming to a close, I am looking at going over the road in the first or second quarter of 2017. The Red Viking videos have really been an inspiration into what can be obtained from a truck driving career, so thank you so much for posting the videos!
