I just picked up a load and I'm having a hard time figuring out if its legal. I have 34,000 lbs on the trailer and the back locking pin on the tandems is the 13th hole from the rear trailer bumper. Its a 2006 wabash trailer. I don't have any tape measure w/ me currently but i plan on picking some up as soon as I find some. I am just looking for a quick response so I know whether or not to drag my load back to the shipper. This is for the kingpin to the center of the rear trailer axle. thx

all i know is these roll paper loads are heavy as shiat... grossed out at 79k lbs lol. i think i was at around 34,400 on my trailer but DOT doesnt usually care too much as long as ur not more than 1k over on ur axles or over gross. just hoping my 41' bridge is at the right spot. it looks really far back, further than i usually have it, but then again i usually have them all the way to the front since most my loads lately have weighed 10-15k lbs.

On most sliding tandem trailers with mud flap hangers built on to the sliders, if you open one of the trailer doors and fasten it to the side and your mudflap hanger is no further back than the edge of the door your good to go. Of course it can be shorter but no longer, and of course legal on your axle weight. Good luck

geeze, weights good, it's louisiana to tennesee............
you ain't there yet ??????
they load those rolls all day, you should be fine on bridge, as long as scale was good !!! -
No tape measure is no excuse. Use what you got. You could take 2 sheets of paper (8.5x11) over lap the 11 inches with the second sheet by 1 inch and now you have a 12 inch piece of paper. Hold that flush with the back of the trailer, make a mark and continue 9 times, that's 9 feet or 41 feet from kingpin.

Or, a dollar bill is 6" long. You want to measure 10' from the back of trailer forward. Or 9' for a 41' kingpin setting.
MustangMark83, hunts2much and driverdriver Thank this. -
Heel to toe works if you know how long your shoe is... also, the panels on a trailer are 4 foot.
hunts2much and driverdriver Thank this.
