So, I’m in Pasadena and they asked me to deliver construction material to an elementary school inside a neighborhood in LA county with a step deck. When I made a right turn, it was so tight that the left side of my trailer moved to the left and hit a parked car. I didn’t realized it and a guy followed to the consignee (about three blocks away) and he was calling 911 and telling them I ran away. I told him that wasn’t true and tried to explain the situation with the operator on the line to make sure they knew I didn’t notice the accident and I was going back by foot. I went back to the scene, I rang the bell and faced the owner. The cops showed up and all info was exchanged (I work for Melton). No one inside the vehicle and no injuries.
So, what now for me? What's my position in the transportation industry when it comes to getting a new job? Am I tied to Melton for a long time? Is there anything you would do in my position?
The cop also told me the owner of the vehicle had his insurance expired (and the vehicle was out on the street). I’m not sure if that even matters.
5 months in and already an accident

Yep it matters.
Vehicle parked in no parking zone on corner with no insurance.
Hope you got it in writing on incident report since no mention of ticket.Tb0n3, Another Canadian driver, Flatbed2222 and 5 others Thank this. -
He probably parked there in hopes he would get hit. He has no insurance and needs some cash.
I wonder how many truckers he's said hit his car. That's an old scam.
I'd swear I didn't hit him.

Some scumbag truckers do that at truck stops and rest areas. "You hit my truck and broke my mirror. New mirror costs $300 and just give me cash and I won't call your company."Wargames, buddyd157, FearTheCorn and 10 others Thank this. -
First of all , call melton safety and report it- all of it don't sugar coat it.
2nd get his info , the cops card and number, and get pictures of his car and your stuff
3rd if you didn't get a ticket and no one was hurt , tell melton that , send them proof ( pictures) . If there is less than 500 dollars damage , most times nothing happens.
Good luckAnother Canadian driver, WildTiger1990, Flatbed2222 and 1 other person Thank this. -
i dont understand how your trailer moved left when you are turning right? but i feel for you with those residential deliveries. they are never fun.. roads like that arent made for trucks, especially sleepers with 53fters behind..

If not, you may not have made contact.
What kind of damage to the car, and is there any indication of contact with your trailer - like say, a matching paint color with/or fresh scrapes?Another Canadian driver, drvrtech77, Flatbed2222 and 2 others Thank this. -
