Lancaster might still have FFE in east dallas before Terrell. Its probably KLLM. Their truck traffic has fallen greatly indicating a shift in fleet traffic etc.

Female male or it does not matter one whit. If you two are a good team, that is all that matters.

Now the condescending attitudes, yea you need to see about finding a better company with people who will appreciate you more.

If you get into a company that says they have a AUTO truck, MAKE SURE it's both a manual paddle option and a third clutch pedal. These two will help you immensely, one in mountains and the other in getting going or backing in.

Try to have a truck that will idle all the time without the company limited BS. This is winter after all and you two are a team.

That makes more sense than what I was thinking above. Most larger straight trucks already have decks at standard dock heights.

It is indeed KLLM in Lancaster. Their fleet right now is 4800 trucks. They have started migrating over to auto transmissions already, but it will take time to replace that many freight liners. I only know cus a bunch of students were complaining about the stick shift and we got that spiel.

I was surprised literally the entire class had no interest in learning the clutch.

Even though I have driven an automatic in the past, and would prefer to be driving one now, I still think everyone should learn on a stick shift.

Understanding the gears - having an idea of when you should be in certain gears, and when you should be changing gears - can help when driving automatics too, since most automatics have some degree of manual control over shifting.

In other words, if you understand manual shifting, you will better understand when you need to manually control the gear an automatic truck is in.

Im sorry to hear that. The part about no interest in Manual. They are absolutely going to miss out on the joys of manual shifting. And the possibilities.

Auto transmissions are auto parts. You cannot be late. You will be fired for being one minute late in this section of Industry. It is seriously JIT (Just in Time)

Run with McKesson. Set reefer to 60 and forgetaboutit. Unload next morning and reload within the hour back to Memphis or wherever. Easy peasy. There is one catch, you need a virgin record of your life. These are million dollar plus loads routinely.

And accordingly I'm assuming they will compensate me appropriately. Good health insurance? 401k match? 4+ weeks vacation? Earn 100k+ yearly? Decent home time?

mmm.. I don't know. You will be running with fleets that contract to McKesson. Benefits will be offered by them.

I don't know about the 100K yearly. You need a team for that. And that would be to both of you. We did 67K in 2001, however much of that income was either training wages or rescues of solo which did not reflect more than a few months of medical hauling which really took off but not enough to save the year as it were.

Benefits under the 2009 Laws passed in the previous President simply suck. If you had health insurance, you would have had to incur about 12000 dollars in costs at the ER before any Insurance will pay anything. Its stupid. And you probably will end up paying 6000 for a family of 4 if not god only knows how much more at a rate increases ranging from 10% all the way past 40% annually each year.

    Farmerbob1 and Coover Thank this.
